CUÉLLAR TAKES CENTRE STAGE WITH THE SECOND INTERNATIONAL FILM WEEK IN CUÉLLAR (SICC)

  • From 14 to 22 November, this town in Segovia will become a film hub, hosting screenings, workshops, meetings with filmmakers and cultural activities.

From 14 to 22 November, the town of Cuéllar will host the second edition of the Cuéllar International Film Week (SICC), an event that will transform the town into a real film set for nine consecutive days. This private initiative was created with the aim of bringing quality film culture to a rural area that is usually left out of the major cultural circuits, as well as providing an economic boost for Cuéllar and the surrounding region.

The Cuéllar International Film Week has established itself as a cultural benchmark in rural areas, demonstrating that quality cinema can and should reach every corner of the country.

The main objective of the II SICC is to offer Cuéllar and its surrounding area a varied, high-quality film programme, revitalising local cultural life, attracting new audiences and creating spaces for people to come together around the seventh art. ‘This is a private initiative that aims to democratise access to culture,’ say the organisers.

New edition featuring a multidisciplinary programme

This year’s Cuéllar International Film Week features numerous new additions, such as the expansion of its scope to provincial capitals, a larger network of collaborating establishments, a bullfighting section with a documentary on Andrés Roca Rey, a Fundación Delibes exhibition throughout the week, Universo Delibes workshops taught by Fernando Cárdaba, a Mexican film series with the screening of two films, and specific sections: SICC Infantil and SICC Juvenil, territorial extension to Montemayor de Pililla, and a short film competition with cash prizes.

These new features include: screenings of eight short films in the short film competition and 11 feature films and eight short films in the official section, with directors in attendance to personally present their works; film workshops for all audiences; discussions and talks with film professionals, humanities and sports professors, meetings with filmmakers and cultural heritage directors, film-themed vermouths that will fuse gastronomy and culture, themed concerts, film-inspired dishes that will recreate the culinary experience of the seventh art, and dramatic monologues performed by the author of the work.
