CAL PARADÍS, RECOGNISED AS ONE OF THE BEST VEGETARIAN RESTAURANTS IN THE WORLD BY THE WE’RE SMART GREEN GUIDE

  • The restaurant has also been selected as the best in Castellón and has received the Sustainability Award in the ranking of food critic Santos Ruíz.

Miguel Barrera, chef and owner of Cal Paradís, a benchmark in the province of Castellón and holder of a Michelin star since 2013, has enjoyed a week full of awards and distinctions. Among them, one of the most internationally renowned today: the 4 radishes from the prestigious We’re Smart Green Guide, which recognises the best restaurants serving vegetarian and sustainable cuisine.

This award, together with the green Michelin star, once again positions Cal Paradís as one of the pillars of sustainability, quality and gastronomic innovation in our country. This is the second year that the restaurant in Vall d’Alba has received this recognition, the result of ‘a philosophy based on respect for the product and a commitment to our region’.

This is according to chef Miguel Barrera, who has emphasised the importance of ‘working with local, seasonal produce to improve the quality of dishes and promote the development of the local economy’.

An example of this commitment to locally sourced, seasonal produce will be reflected in their upcoming offering, Territorio y Caza (Territory and Game), a gastronomic journey that celebrates the new game and produce season (much of which they grow themselves in their organic garden) and will only be available during the month-long season.

This commitment to innovation based on respect for the local environment and regional cuisine has earned it two Sustainability Awards: one from ASHOTUR (Provincial Association of Hospitality and Tourism Businesses of Castellón) and the other from the Guide to the 55 Best Restaurants in the Valencian Community. Furthermore, this ranking, compiled annually by food critic Santos Ruiz, once again places Cal Paradís as the best restaurant in the province of Castellón and the 20th best in the entire region.

Awards that continue to recognise the value of a chef and a team that have been working for decades to raise the gastronomic standards of Castellón and make our province a highly prestigious tourist destination in the field of catering.
