- MSC Magnifica has completed a major refurbishment at Palumbo Malta Shipyard and has begun its winter cruises in the Mediterranean.

MSC Cruises has completed a major refurbishment of MSC Magnifica at the Palumbo Malta Shipyard, marking the start of its winter voyages in the Mediterranean ahead of MSC World Cruise 2026.
Passengers can now enjoy a range of new, state-of-the-art facilities, including two new speciality restaurants, Butcher’s Cut and Kaito Sushi Bar, along with a redesigned MSC Aurea Spa and Technogym® fitness centre featuring Gentleman’s Barber, new training studios and an expanded outdoor Aurea area.
The ship, which has been sailing since 2010, has spent the last two months in dry dock at the Palumbo Malta Shipyard in Malta, where it has undergone one of the most extensive renovations of the MSC Cruises fleet in the last decade.
Passengers will be able to enjoy the new facilities from now on, and the full MSC Yacht Club experience, with 24-hour butler and concierge service, will be available in summer 2026, when MSC Magnifica sets sail on its Northern European itineraries from Warnemunde, Germany.
Its sister ship, MSC Poesia, will enter dry dock at the same shipyard in February 2026 for similar upgrades, including a 69-suite MSC Yacht Club, an All-Stars Sports Bar and the same enhancements to the speciality restaurants, spa and gym. It will rejoin the fleet in time for its Alaska debut in May 2026.
New highlights aboard MSC Magnifica now include:
- NEW! Butcher’s Cut Restaurant. This speciality restaurant, much loved by the MSC Cruises fleet, offers guests an elegant setting in which to enjoy expertly prepared cuts of prime quality meat.
- NEW! Kaito Sushi Bar Restaurant. It offers a unique setting for passengers to enjoy dishes inspired by authentic Asian cuisine, full of fresh flavours and a lively atmosphere.
- NEW! Completely renovated MSC Aurea Spa. A sanctuary with a panoramic sauna, steam and salt rooms, and a comprehensive treatment menu for passengers who want to relax and rejuvenate.
- NEW! Technogym® fitness centre. State-of-the-art facilities with panoramic views, yoga and spinning studios, and cutting-edge Technogym® training equipment, complemented by the Gentlemen’s Barber barbershop, various training studios, and the Aurea outdoor area.

MSC Magnifica is currently sailing in the Mediterranean before setting sail on 7 January 2026 from Barcelona for its 132-day MSC World Cruise. In the summer of 2026, she will depart from Copenhagen (Denmark), with flights included from Madrid and Barcelona, and will tour Northern Europe from May onwards, visiting the Baltic capitals and Norwegian fjords, before returning to the Mediterranean at the end of the year.
In 2027, MSC Magnifica will embark on its next MSC World Cruise from Barcelona, a 121-night voyage visiting 45 destinations in 25 countries and marking the debut of MSC Yacht Club on a round-the-world cruise. Bookings for MSC World Cruise 2027 are now open.
