The destination has been honoured at the sixth edition of the World MICE Awards.
Lisbon has been recognised as the best MICE destination in Europe in 2025, a distinction awarded at the sixth edition of the World MICE Awards, announced in Sakhir, Bahrain. The city once again stands out among the leading international destinations for conferences, meetings and corporate events.
This award, presented for the third time, highlights Lisbon’s excellent performance in the MICE segment (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions), an area of growing economic importance and international projection. The combination of efficient accessibility, hotel capacity, modern facilities and a diverse cultural offering has contributed to consolidating Lisbon’s appeal.
For Carlos Moedas, Mayor of Lisbon, ‘this distinction demonstrates Lisbon’s ability to attract events that generate investment and employment. Business tourism is now a central part of the city’s development strategy, and this recognition shows that we are consolidating a leading position in Europe.’
Paula Oliveira, executive director of the Lisbon Tourism Association (ATL), adds that ‘this recognition reflects a strategy that has successfully evolved with the market. Today, Lisbon offers a competitive proposition for events of all sizes, benefiting from the quality of its infrastructure, the professionalisation of the sector and an ecosystem capable of responding to the demands of international organisers’.
The latest data from the ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) confirms this trend, with Lisbon ranking second among European cities with the highest number of association events (153 in 2024).
Created to recognise excellence in business tourism, the World MICE Awards recognise destinations, operators, venues and services that contribute to raising global standards in the sector. This year’s award reinforces Lisbon’s international profile and paves the way for a new cycle of opportunities for business tourism.
