GUILLERM GINARD, NEW MINISTER OF TOURISM FOR THE GOVERNMENT OF MALLORCA

  • Ginard will continue with the destination’s goal of transforming its tourism offering into a more sustainable and responsible experience.

The Council of Mallorca has appointed Guillem Ginard as the new Minister of Tourism and President of the Mallorca Responsible Tourism Foundation, following the change in leadership of this portfolio on 31 December. Guillem Ginard’s appointment comes after Marcial Rodríguez resigned as Minister of Tourism on Tuesday to return to private life with a view to preparing for his retirement, which is planned for the coming months.

Guillem Ginard has extensive experience in public administration in the Balearic Islands and has held high-level positions, particularly in the field of culture. ‘His experience in managing and protecting cultural heritage, traditions and local identity has been a determining factor in his appointment,’ said the president of the Council of Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés.

The Consell emphasises that preserving cultural values and promoting harmonious coexistence between residents and visitors are key elements of current tourism policy. In this regard, Ginard’s appointment as head of the Tourism Department reinforces the commitment to a model that will help consolidate Mallorca as a sustainable, responsible and internationally renowned destination.

The new minister takes office with the aim of advancing ‘tourism management that generates economic prosperity while ensuring the care of the territory and the well-being of citizens’.
