Entries are now open for the latest edition of the TAP Air Portugal film festival.
The film festival on board TAP Air Portugal is set to hold a new edition, for which entries are now open. Until 30 April, short films can be submitted to the third edition of the Altitude Film Fest, organised by the Portuguese airline, which this year will also feature a new category dedicated to film students.
The Altitude Film Fest continues its mission to promote the best of Portugal and its culture through cinema and artists from all corners of the world. In its first two editions, the festival received over 400 entries from 45 different countries, which were viewed by more than 60,000 passengers on board.
Short films in the “Fiction” and “Documentary” categories will once again be screened on board TAP aircraft during September and October, and it will be the passengers themselves who vote for the films shown. The main requirement for submitting entries is that part of each short film must be shot in Portugal and/or focus on Portuguese culture. The entry fee per submission is just ten euros.
The winners will be announced on World Cinema Day, during the awards ceremony taking place on 5 November in Lisbon. The Altitude Film Fest will select ten fiction films and ten documentaries, and from these, five finalists per category will be put to a vote by passengers on the airline’s flights. To determine the overall winner in each category, 60% of the votes will come from passengers and 40% from a jury comprising national figures linked to the film industry.
The winners of the special category “Portugal that Inspires the World”, which aims to foster young talent through school art projects, will be voted for during the same ceremony on 5 November.
The “Fiction” and “Documentary” categories will feature a first prize of €1,500 in travel to any TAP destination, whilst the student competition will have a single prize of €1,000 in travel within the airline’s network.
