EDINBURGH HAS BECOME THE FAVOURITE DESTINATION FOR SPANIARDS DURING EASTER WEEK, ACCOUNTING FOR 53% OF BOOKINGS, ACCORDING TO CAMPERDAYS

  • European destinations account for 77% of bookings made by Spanish travellers, cementing the trend towards nearby getaways.

  • CamperDays has recorded a 70% increase in bookings compared to Easter 2025, reflecting the growing popularity of campervan travel among young couples and families seeking flexibility and independence.

Easter 2026 confirms the trend among Spanish travellers to opt for nearby European destinations, with Edinburgh emerging as the favourite, accounting for 53% of bookings made on CamperDays, the leading campervan hire platform. In total, 77% of bookings by Spanish travellers were for European destinations, compared to 53% last year, highlighting a growing trend towards more accessible and safer options within the continent.

In 2025, the distribution of destinations was more diverse: North America, comprising Canada and the United States, accounted for 25% of bookings, whilst Australia and New Zealand accounted for 22%. Against a backdrop of international uncertainty, Spanish travellers are showing a clear preference for closer destinations.

In addition to the shift in destination, CamperdDays’ data reflects a 70% increase in the number of bookings compared to Easter 2025, consolidating the trend towards campervan travel. The platform confirms that travellers are predominantly couples and families. Among couples, who account for 75% of customers, young people aged between 25 and 34 predominate. In the case of families, the main driver is usually aged between 45 and 54, reflecting the diversity of profiles who find the campervan experience a versatile option suited to every stage of life. The average duration of bookings remains at seven days, ideal for making the most of the long Easter break without rushing.

“Easter remains a key time to discover Europe on wheels,” says Adriana Neves, Marketing Manager at CamperDays. “More and more Spaniards are opting for nearby getaways that combine flexibility, comfort and contact with nature. The 70% growth in bookings reflects not only interest in European destinations, but also the consolidation of campervan travel as a safe and versatile way to enjoy free time. Travelling by campervan allows you to discover each destination at your own pace, combine city life with the natural surroundings, and make the most of every day of your holiday.”

Data from CamperDays shows that Spanish travellers are seeking experiences that allow them to tailor their trip to their own needs, taking advantage of the comfort and independence offered by a campervan. Furthermore, travelling by campervan allows travellers to optimise accommodation costs and experience destinations more intimately, avoiding the constraints of timetables and transport. This Easter, Edinburgh and other European destinations thus offer the perfect opportunity for couples and families to explore at their own pace, enjoy authentic experiences and make the most of every day off.
