- The exhibition “Mercedes-Benz Motorsport: The Spirit of the Silver Arrows” is now open to the public at the Mobility City museum in Zaragoza and brings together some of the most iconic racing cars in the brand’s history.
- This is a first-of-its-kind exhibition in Spain, bringing together for the first time in our country such a remarkable number of original exhibits from the classic car collection of the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart.
- The exhibition offers a comprehensive overview of the technological, sporting and aesthetic evolution of Mercedes-Benz, with a particular focus on Formula 1, as well as rally and DTM cars, in a space designed to recreate the excitement of the racetrack.
It is now possible to visit the exhibition “Mercedes-Benz Motorsport. The Spirit of the Silver Arrows”, organised by the Ibercaja Foundation, which brings together some of the most iconic racing cars in the German brand’s history. This is an exhibition never before seen in Spain and unique worldwide, as it is the first time a collection of this nature has been presented, featuring original models from the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart.
For Mercedes-Benz, this initiative is of extraordinary value as it allows the public to experience something that goes beyond its vehicles: its heritage. Each model on display tells a story of engineering, of overcoming challenges and of a pioneering spirit. It is tangible proof of how the brand has evolved over time without losing its essence. Furthermore, this year takes on an even more special significance, as the brand celebrates 140 years as the inventors of the automobile. 140 years ago, Karl Benz patented the first vehicle powered by an internal combustion engine, giving rise to what we know today as the automobile. The brand thus celebrates 140 years of innovation, progress and always looking towards the future.
This was evident during the visit by the President of Mercedes-Benz Spain, Reiner Hoeps, alongside the Managing Director of the Ibercaja Foundation, José Luis Rodrigo, who were marvelling at the brand’s historic pieces, such as the original W 25, known as the ‘Silver Arrow’, and the Formula 1 W07 HYBRID, with which the brand secured seven world championships.
“Mercedes-Benz Motorsport. The Spirit of the Silver Arrows”
Located on the Zaha Hadid Bridge, the exhibition offers a circular route that guides visitors through different thematic areas dedicated to the various disciplines of motorsport, from the brand’s origins to contemporary competition. The exhibition allows visitors to discover the technological, sporting and aesthetic evolution of Mercedes-Benz through unique pieces and historic prototypes.
The exhibition design has been conceived to showcase each vehicle as a unique centrepiece. Among the highlights is a ramp inspired by historic circuits that features iconic models, as well as a central “roundabout” dedicated to Formula 1 that connects the past and present of the sport. The setting is complemented by theatrical lighting, audiovisual projections and graphic elements that enhance the visitor’s immersive experience.
The exhibition pays special attention to Formula 1, coinciding with the start of the new championship season, and also includes exclusive rally and DTM cars, stars of some of the most prestigious touring car championships on the international scene. The exhibition highlights the legacy of the so-called “Silver Arrows”, a historic name referring to Mercedes-Benz’s iconic racing cars, a symbol of innovation, speed and technical excellence in motorsport since its inception.
In addition to the historical and sporting value of the exhibits, “Mercedes-Benz Motorsport. The Spirit of the Silver Arrows” establishes a dialogue between two international architectural landmarks: Mobility City in Zaragoza and the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, both conceived as leading venues for promoting automotive culture and mobility.
An immersive experience centred on racing
The museum’s design recreates the atmosphere of the circuits through carefully crafted audiovisual effects, targeted lighting and graphic elements inspired by the brand’s identity.
In this way, visitors not only view historic vehicles, but also gain an understanding of their technological and sporting context, in line with Fundación Ibercaja’s aim of establishing Mobility City as a national and international benchmark for innovation and mobility culture.
