Up to almost 700 weekly flights to and from 12 airports, including the launch of KLM routes from Asturias and Santiago de Compostela to Amsterdam.
Air France and KLM are increasing their capacity by 4% this summer season in the Spanish market, operating from 12 airports: Alicante, Asturias, Barcelona, Bilbao, Ibiza, Madrid, Málaga, Palma de Mallorca, Santiago de Compostela, Seville, Tenerife South and Valencia to Paris-Charles de Gaulle and/or Amsterdam-Schiphol.
In total, both airlines will offer up to 696 weekly flights to and from Spain.
Among the most notable new developments, KLM is launching two new direct routes from Asturias (from 29 March) and Santiago de Compostela (from 30 May) to Amsterdam-Schiphol, operated by its subsidiary KLM Cityhopper. In Asturias, Embraer 190 aircraft with a capacity of 100 passengers will be used, with two weekly flights in each direction (Saturdays and Sundays), increasing to daily flights during the high season (from 4 July to 30 August). In Santiago de Compostela, the service will be operated using Embraer 190 or Embraer 175 aircraft (88 passengers), also with two weekly flights in each direction (Saturdays and Sundays), increasing to daily flights from 4 July to 30 August.
Air France is resuming its seasonal flights from Ibiza, Palma de Mallorca and Tenerife South to Paris-CDG, whilst KLM is also resuming its summer route between Ibiza and Amsterdam.
Another significant development is the improvement to Air France’s service in Seville, which will feature a daily ‘night stop’ flight (compared to three weekly flights last summer), allowing travellers to enjoy early departures and greater connectivity with the airline’s global network, as well as facilitating same-day return trips to Paris.
The Air France and KLM offering is complemented by that of their joint venture partner, Delta Air Lines, which will once again operate direct flights this summer from Madrid and Barcelona to New York-JFK and Atlanta, as well as the route between Barcelona and Boston. From May, Delta will add its new Madrid-Boston and Barcelona-Seattle routes. All these Delta flights are marketed as codeshare flights with Air France and KLM, making it easier for travellers to access the group’s transatlantic network.
