PUERTO RICO: THE ISLAND OF THE MOMENT

  • Puerto Rico is currently enjoying a period of heightened international visibility.

  • In recent weeks, various cultural milestones have naturally placed the island in the media spotlight, reinforcing its image as a creative, vibrant destination with a distinct character.

  • This visibility complements — but does not overshadow — the destination’s true value: its identity, its diverse landscapes and its welcoming nature.

Against this backdrop, GrandVoyage, Spain’s first digital-native agency specialising in luxury travel, is launching its first tours to Puerto Rico, designed to explore the island from different angles: from the urban energy of its capital to the more tranquil landscapes of its coastline and rainforests.

San Juan: history and contemporary vibrancy

San Juan clearly reflects the duality that defines the island. Old San Juan retains its historic layout, with cobbled streets, colonial façades and fortresses such as Castillo San Felipe del Morro, a symbol of the island’s past and one of the Caribbean’s most recognisable landmarks.

Surrounding it, neighbourhoods such as Condado and Santurce reveal a vibrant city, where music, art and gastronomy coexist with tradition. As night falls, the energy shifts to venues such as La Placita de Santurce, a former market transformed into a social hub. Live music, impromptu salsa and an open atmosphere encapsulate Puerto Rico’s festive and hospitable character.

In areas such as Río Grande, the landscape connects rivers, coastline and tropical vegetation, offering a more leisurely experience in direct contact with the surroundings.

Caribbean beaches with their own unique character

Puerto Rico is home to some of the Caribbean’s most famous beaches. Flamenco Beach, on the island of Culebra, stands out for its turquoise waters and white sand, whilst others such as Luquillo or Las Picúas offer a more relaxed atmosphere in keeping with the local way of life. Each region offers a different setting, but they all share the Caribbean essence that defines the island.

Ponce: cultural heritage in the south

Further south, Ponce adds another dimension to the journey. Known as the “Pearl of the South”, the city is renowned for its neoclassical and Creole architecture and for its cultural significance. Venues such as the Ponce Art Museum reinforce this artistic heritage, enriching the visitor’s experience and broadening their perspective on the island.

GrandVoyage highlights that Puerto Rico is firmly establishing itself as the island of the moment: a destination that invites you to explore it at your own pace and with curiosity, combining culture, nature and Caribbean rhythm in a single trip.

About GRANDVOYAGE

GrandVoyage was founded in 2012 as Spain’s first digital-native agency specialising in long-haul travel. At a time when many agencies were still operating using traditional models, the company committed to digitising complex processes and offering bespoke medium- and long-haul itineraries, combining its own technology with a deeply human approach.

Since then, its trajectory has been marked by sustained growth: expanding destinations across Asia, Africa and the Americas; building a specialised team; and developing a product portfolio that now includes over 70 destinations and 400 customisable itineraries. The pandemic presented an unprecedented challenge, but also served as a turning point that enabled the company to strengthen its structure, optimise processes and build a more robust and scalable operational model.

This evolution has been accompanied by recent milestones such as the opening of an-office in Bogotá to boost its presence in Latin America, the attainment of sustainability certifications, and the onboarding of a financial partner specialising in scale-ups. All of this has gone hand in hand with the development of a more sophisticated brand identity, without losing the accessible and approachable spirit that has always characterised GrandVoyage. Today, with its own technology, an international vision and the human factor at the heart of the business, the company is positioned as one of the most robust Spanish firms in the long-distance tourism sector. In an increasingly competitive market, GrandVoyage is moving forward with determination, ambition and an offering that combines innovation, discernment and approachability to continue growing and scaling up in capital markets such as BME Scaleup.
