The Accor Group, Extendam and Continuum Hotel Services are driving their joint growth with an acquisition and refurbishment project next to the railway station, ahead of the opening of ibis Styles Granada in 2027
Granada is preparing to welcome a new ibis Styles hotel, the economy-segment brand of the Accor hotel group. The company has announced the signing of an agreement for the development of the ibis Styles Granada, a project set to open its doors in 2027 following a complete refurbishment of an existing building. The deal reinforces the group’s commitment to Andalusia, one of Spain’s most promising regions for tourism.
The future hotel will be the result of the transformation of a centrally located property at Avenida de los Andaluces, 3. The acquisition and development project has been led by EXTENDAM, an investment platform specialising in real estate assets in the hotel and commercial sectors, in collaboration with Continuum Hotel Services, a local partner with extensive experience in the development and management of hotel assets in southern Europe.
Strategic location and environmental certification
Situated just 100 metres from the main railway station and a five-minute walk from the historic centre, the hotel will enjoy a prime location and excellent visibility as it is a corner building. This strategic location will allow guests to easily explore the city’s main attractions, such as the Cathedral, the Albaicín and the Alhambra.
The project involves a comprehensive refurbishment programme lasting approximately one year. As part of its commitment to sustainability, the hotel aims to achieve BREEAM Good certification upon opening, a mark of recognition for good environmental practices in the building’s construction.
The hotel will feature 116 rooms designed in the spirit of the ibis Styles brand, which combines functionality, design and a welcoming atmosphere. Its facilities will include a breakfast room and a rooftop solarium, a space designed for relaxation after a day exploring the city.
A booming hotel market
The hotel market in Granada presents a unique opportunity for the ibis Styles brand. Currently, there is virtually no ‘focus service’ offering from an international brand in the heart of the city, with the hotel sector consisting mainly of independent establishments. Against this backdrop, the arrival of a high-quality hotel under a brand with Accor’s distribution reach represents a clear competitive advantage.
The destination also benefits from a balanced demand between domestic and international guests, bolstered by the arrival of the high-speed rail link connecting Granada to Madrid in approximately three and a half hours, which has contributed to a sustained increase in visitor numbers.
“This transaction illustrates our commitment to continuing our development in the highly dynamic Spanish hotel market, positioning ourselves in properties that enjoy strategic locations and strong potential for appreciation. The future ibis Styles Granada will offer an affordable, standardised and high-quality offering in the heart of a major tourist destination, whilst leveraging ACCOR’s distribution power and the local expertise of our partner Continuum Hotel Services,” said Anna Cohen, Director of EXTENDAM.
For his part, Coré Martín, VP Development Spain & Portugal at Accor, added: “Granada is a must-visit destination on the Spanish tourist map and this new ibis Styles arrives at a key moment, capitalising on the city’s excellent momentum in terms of connectivity and demand. “We are particularly pleased to be developing this project alongside Continuum Hotel Services and with the investment backing of EXTENDAM, two strategic partners for Accor in Spain and Portugal.”
The Accor group is thus continuing to consolidate its leadership in the Economy segment through the ibis Styles brand, which adds a new destination to its growing network in Spain and Portugal. Accor currently has an extensive network of hotels under the ibis Styles, ibis and ibis budget brands, totalling 80 establishments in Spain (15 of which are ibis Styles) and 25 in Portugal (4 of which are ibis Styles), bringing the total to 105 ibis Family hotels and 10,892 rooms across the Iberian Peninsula.
