There’s nothing better than spending the day with her and celebrating around the table.
We’ve got options to suit all tastes and budgets for an unforgettable Mother’s Day. And if you’re far away, surprise her with a gourmet gift.
Casa Toro. Pre-bullfight lunch for bullfighting-loving mums
Julio Camba, 5. Madrid. Tel. 676 74 52 93.
Overlooking Las Ventas, Casa Toro is the authentic Andalusian tavern you wouldn’t expect and which she’ll love, especially if the plan is to go to the bullfight, as it’s right in front of the bullring. Its cuisine is traditional, yet there’s no shortage of nods to the south, resulting in a menu that’s appealing from start to finish. Among the must-try dishes: the Russian salad with garlic prawns; the ‘Campeones de Madrid’ pork crackling, the tomato with spring onion, the original pork ear, served diced, and the scrambled eggs with oxtail migas. At the moment, in addition to their regular menu, they’re offering some highly tempting Feria set menus starting from €55. To enjoy the experience, a warm, rustic atmosphere, adorned with wicker baskets, jars of preserves and touches that evoke the nearby square. Casa Toro is open continuously from 12.30 pm to 1.00 am and the average price is €35.
Cokima. For the most modern or the most classic… its new menu has everyone smitten
Andrés Mellado, 21. Madrid. Tel. 91 598 94 01.
Located in the trendy Argüelles neighbourhood, Cokima has become one of the area’s must-visit spots in its own right, having been putting smiles on faces for over five years with its irresistible international twist and a traditional touch that appeals to both the most adventurous and the most classic palates, so it’s easy to get it right. They’ve just launched a new menu, designed for sharing, and your order simply must include their classics: Joselito ham croquettes with a veil of Iberian pork jowl, Los Minutejos, potato mille-feuille with crispy pig’s ear and brava sauce, the sea bass ceviche, passion fruit leche de tigre and quinoa, the Governor’s prawn tacos with ñora peppers and Oaxaca cheese or the creamy rice with grilled scarlet prawns, aioli and achiote mayonnaise… The average bill is €50 and the restaurant’s décor is groundbreaking.
El Jardín de Arturo Soria. Mum with flowers in the garden
Arturo Soria, 207. Madrid. Tel. 918 965 925.
This Arturo Soria oasis reopens its outdoor spaces on 1 May… just in time to celebrate Mother’s Day and surprise her, as this is a restaurant that ‘transports’ us far from Madrid, inviting calm and a leisurely after-dinner chat. For a casual lunch, there’s nothing like settling into the chill-out area at the front, with its own menu perfect for a light bite. And those who sit on the covered terrace, in the glass-fronted dining room or in the acclaimed, secluded back garden will be able to enjoy both new creations and house classics, as it has been almost six years since it began winning over diners with its commitment to produce, quality and tradition, featuring a well-chosen menu that appeals to the whole family. What’s more, on Sunday 3 May, mums dining there will receive a complimentary flower. The average price in the chill-out area is €30 and €50 from the à la carte menu. Booking is recommended and valet parking is available. Given its setting, it’s perfect for large celebrations and offers various group menus. So, see you in the garden at El Jardín!

La Fábrica. Opening on Sunday 3 May!
San Juan, 3. Burgos. Tel. 947 04 04 20.
Recommended by the Repsol and Michelin guides, it has been delighting diners since 2014 under the leadership of Ricardo Temiño in the kitchen and Cristina Lázaro front of house, with a culinary offering that reflects the effort, dedication and passion for local and seasonal produce. As a special exception, and to celebrate Mother’s Day, they are opening their doors this coming Sunday, 3 May. And what are the must-try dishes at La Fábrica? The truth is there are many, but your order must include the ‘La Fábrica’ potato salad with tuna belly and piparra peppers, the micuit foie gras terrine, hazelnut brioche, apricot and yuzu, the cod and Idiazabal cheese fritters or the lobster cannelloni with hollandaise and sea urchin caviar amongst the starters. Standout main courses include the Four-course farm-raised squab, the Ravioli with bull’s testicles, mushrooms and truffle, the rice dishes, and from the sea, the Bilbao-style monkfish is absolutely top-notch… For dessert, their Apple tartlet and La Fábrica de Chocolate always win you over. The elegant and spacious restaurant is located just a few metres from the cathedral, in a historic building, under the same blue roof as its Michelin-starred Ricardo Temiño Restaurant – which offers gift vouchers and is also a tasty gift idea.
La Raspa Golosa. Classic tiramisu and cheeky tapas
Numancia Market, stall 14. Josefa Díaz, 4. Puente de Vallecas. Madrid. Tel. 697 55 98 75.
We know Paula Beer as the creator of ACYRE’s ‘Best Classic Torrija’ in Madrid 2026, but this intrepid cook and pastry chef brings out the best in everything she makes from her stall at the Mercado de Numancia, and her Tiramisu is no exception. Her recipe is the classic one, the one that never fails; for the occasion, she tops it with a chocolate bar dedicated to mum and prepares it in a takeaway box, complete with a little spoon and the option to add a personalised message. This dessert, perfect for two people, costs €7 and can be ordered by phone (697 55 98 75) and collected from the shop. While we’re in the area, there’s nothing like enjoying one of the savoury dishes from the neighbouring establishment, La Raspa VK, which she runs with her partner Chema de Isidro: chicken wings, mushrooms stuffed with ham, spicy pig’s ear or one of their famous focaccias.
La Taberna de Elia. For meat-loving mums… or not
Vía de las Dos Castillas, 23. Pozuelo de Alarcón. Madrid. Tel. 91 162 74 29.
This classic on the national scene, led by Cata Lupu, is always a safe bet, because the commitment to top-quality produce runs through every aspect of the menu, which is extensive and varied: from the garden, from the sea, classics… and, of course, its spectacular meat-lover’s menu. With so many options, the best choice is their comprehensive Elia Menu, designed for sharing and with something for everyone, which will delight both mothers and children alike, especially if there are meat lovers at the table. To round off the experience, we highly recommend exploring Cata’s wine cellar, another highlight of this illustrious establishment. And if in doubt… raise a glass of champagne!

New York Burger, Spain’s pioneering brand in charcoal-grilled burgers, is celebrating its 17th anniversary!! and is celebrating with the Dry Aged 17 Anniversary (€14.95), a burger where Discarlux beef and its ‘genuine charcoal-grilled’ flavour take centre stage alongside four ingredients, with no sauces or dressings. This special edition, inspired by the burger served at New York’s Red Hook Tavern — for many, the best in the US — will be available until 15 May, making Mother’s Day the perfect time to pop into one of their branches and celebrate with the family, because if there’s one restaurant where both adults and children are truly happy, it’s this one. What’s more —this one’s just for the grown-ups— when you order a Budweiser to go with any of the burgers on the menu (there are 11 to choose from) —or, in other words, the Destination NY Pack— you’ll be entered into a prize draw for a trip to the city of skyscrapers. Ponzano. Treat her to a tribute to bluefin tuna
Ponzano, 12. Madrid. Tel. 91 448 68 80.
This is a very special year for the Ponzano Bar and Restaurant, as they are celebrating their 40th anniversary. Four decades in which the establishment has kept its philosophy intact: top-quality produce, respect for the season, precise cooking in every dish and a warm, friendly service. In other words, it’s always a good idea to have a bite to eat at their classic bar or enjoy a meal in one of their dining rooms. But what’s more, on 1 May, the Bluefin Tuna Festival returns to Ponzano and, without a doubt, the main attraction of this year’s event is the tuna stews. Some of the recipes that Paco — who has been at the helm of this restaurant for 25 years — will be serving include: Bluefin tuna belly carpaccio, Bluefin tuna migas with Picual olive oil, Bluefin tuna with onions, Barbate-style, Tasting platter of three cuts: loin, sirloin and belly, Bluefin tuna parpatana in our Josper oven, Stewed tuna tail prepared like oxtail, Braised bluefin tuna cheeks, or a new way of presenting his Chuletón, served raw as a carpaccio and comprising three cuts —cargamento, tarantelo and ventresca— amongst many others. In short, if Mum loves tuna, Ponzano is the perfect place for the occasion.
Gourmet Gifts
Ricardo Temiño Restaurant. A gourmet getaway savouring the Camino de Santiago from Burgos
San Juan, 3. Burgos. Tel. 947 04 04 20.
Is Mum a traveller and a foodie? Well, Burgos has the perfect gift for her: Ricardo Temiño Restaurant. With a Repsol Sun and a Michelin star, this is the signature restaurant of Burgos-born Ricardo Temiño and his wife and maître d’, Cristina Lázaro, who also runs La Fábrica—where their dreams began—located in the same building. Yes, there are two restaurants in the same space. This award-winning establishment’s offering centres on the Camino Menu (15 courses / €95) and the Camino Largo Menu (17 courses / €115), inspired by pilgrims and their tales, and by cultural exchange over the centuries… Neither menu is without the chef’s classics, such as the De tapas por Burgos trilogy – Cojonudo, Cojonuda and Cocido Loriego – the Paté croûte, the Sopa Castellana or El Postre del abuelo, alongside seasonal creations. Of course, the best way to enjoy it is with her, so there’s nothing like getting hold of one of her gift vouchers and surprising her with this unforgettable experience: https://www.fabricarestaurante.com/regala-ricardo
Pradorey. For an Elite Mum
Carretera CL – 619 km 66.1, Gumiel de Mercado, Burgos.
Pradorey is celebrating Mother’s Day with its campaign “You deserve this toast”, a special edition of its most iconic wine, Pradorey Élite, as a tribute to the courage, character and determination of the women who lead, inspire and transform the world every day. To this end, they suggest giving mum the commemorative 2022 vintage of this 100% Tinta Fina Elite clone Tempranillo, featuring a tribute seal and a card dedicated to different women on each packaging. “I have never known anyone braver than my mother,” says Jorge Rodríguez de Rivera Cremades, commercial director at Pradorey, in the dedication to Mª Ángeles Cremades that inspired this campaign. “When I began to realise what her life had been like, all the difficulties she had had to face and how she had had to adapt to a world dictated by others, I understood the courage of those who forge an extraordinary path without anyone telling their story”.
If Adaro was a tribute to the grandfather who founded the winery, this label is now a tribute to his mother and so many other women. Because not all of them make the headlines, but they do change the world every day. They are the elite. Élite is on sale in their online shop and can be delivered anywhere on the Spanish mainland.
