CLÁSICOS EN MAGNÓLIA RETURNS TO MADEIRA WITH A JOURNEY TO THE HEART OF HISTORIC MOTORSPORT

Clásicos en Magnólia regresa a Madeira con un viaje al corazón del automovilismo histórico
  • This event in Madeira combines a classic car exhibition with music, shows and cultural activities for all ages.

  • The event will take place on the last weekend of July in the gardens of Quinta Magnólia in Funchal.

The gardens of Quinta Magnólia will once again become the epicentre of classic motoring on the island of Madeira with a new edition of “Clásicos en Magnólia”, taking place on the last weekend of July. This event, now firmly established in the region’s cultural and tourist calendar, will bring together a carefully curated selection of vintage cars, motorcycles and even bicycles in a unique natural setting, with an early 20th-century atmosphere.

More than just an exhibition, the event offers a true immersion in the atmosphere of the mid-century. Meticulously preserved vehicles will share the limelight with live music performances, shows and areas dedicated to motoring culture. Set to the rhythm of 1950s rock and roll, the festival also welcomes attendees in the iconic fashion of the era: letterman jackets, polka-dot dresses, headscarves, red lipstick and other touches of post-war irreverent elegance.

This event was created as a tribute to the collectors and enthusiasts who devote time and effort to preserving this historical heritage, whilst also establishing itself as a major tourist attraction. Since its inception in 2020, linked to the exhibition “Recomposición” and the contribution of sculptor Ricardo Veloza at the Quinta Magnólia Cultural Centre, “Clásicos en Magnólia” has experienced sustained growth, establishing itself as one of Madeira’s most prominent events.

The venue for this event, the Quinta Magnólia Cultural Centre, is a space dedicated to all kinds of exhibitions and the promotion of artistic and cultural works. This building, together with its gardens, is a well-known type of structure on the island. The ‘quintas’ are the old houses that were once the residences of great aristocrats and influential figures, which have since been restored and converted into hotels. In this way, the original architectural layout has been preserved, making this venue the ideal setting for hosting an event that offers a genuine journey through time, perfectly in tune with the spirit of the day.

Furthermore, direct contact with the collectors allows visitors to discover the stories behind each vehicle, creating a space for intergenerational interaction where a passion for mechanics, history and design is shared in a friendly and festive atmosphere.

This event aims to pay tribute to the enthusiasts dedicated to preserving these vehicles, whilst also serving as a tourist attraction which, given its scale, is now an established part of the official calendar of tourist events.
