El Playazo, Puerto Rey, Las Marinas-Bolaga and Cala Marqués offer kilometres of coastline for those looking to relax in the sun and enjoy water sports such as windsurfing, paddle surfing, kitesurfing, kayaking, catamaran sailing and yachting, amongst others. Added to this is a large number of beach bars, beach clubs and seaside leisure spots, allowing you to enjoy the Mediterranean in all its splendour, from morning until sunset.
Its sunsets are also a highlight of the destination. Through the “Atardeceres con Encanto” programme, you can enjoy a unique experience featuring live music concerts in the open air. It takes place every Tuesday and Thursday during the summer, with the aim of bringing together nature, art and emotion.

Among its main must-see attractions are the Church-Fortress of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación, considered one of the most important in Andalusia; the Fuente de los Cuatro Caños, of Arab origin; the Plaza Mayor; the bullring, the oldest in the province; and the archaeological site of Bayra, an ancient Nasrid city that offers an insight into the importance of its past.

Flavours of the Mediterranean
The cuisine of this town in Almería also reflects its history and its privileged geographical location. Key ingredients include fresh produce from the Mediterranean Sea, as well as vegetables and fruit from the Almería countryside.
Traditional recipes such as ‘ajo colorao’ – made from mashed potatoes with dried peppers and cumin – or ‘gurullos’ – a type of pasta made from wheat flour, water and saffron – sit alongside more contemporary dishes that reinterpret local cuisine whilst remaining true to its roots.
