EMIRATES REDEFINES ECONOMY CLASS TRAVEL WITH THE WORLD’S FIRST U-DREAM HEADREST

Emirates redefine los viajes en Economy Class con el primer reposacabezas U-Dream del mundo
  • Emirates has unveiled yet another world first in the aviation industry, transforming the travel experience for Economy Class passengers with the introduction of the U-Dream headrest – a revolutionary new seat accessory that allows Economy Class customers to enjoy a whole new level of support and comfort on board.

Thanks to a significant investment, the roll-out is already underway across the entire Emirates fleet, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to helping Economy Class customers fly better.

The U-Dream is a multi-position adjustable headrest, designed to provide full neck and head support whilst sleeping or resting, which will be fitted to Emirates’ Economy Class seats on all the airline’s A350s, as well as on most of its Airbus A380s and Boeing 777s. As the first airline in the world to introduce it, the U-Dream headrest is already receiving exceptional praise from Emirates’ customers.

As part of Emirates’ innovative Z400 seat, manufactured by Safran Seats, the leather U-Dream headrest is padded and features flexible side wings that can be folded inwards to gently cradle the head and neck. This helps passengers maintain a comfortable sleeping position without their head falling forwards or to the side. The design moves vertically and tilts to accommodate passengers of different heights and builds, providing personalised comfort throughout the flight. The ‘U-Dream’ has undergone independent testing and has been found to comply with the rigorous aviation safety standards of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Emirates is rolling out this advanced headrest on a large scale, offering Economy Class customers a higher level of ergonomic support, something usually associated with premium cabins.

Sir Tim Clark, Chairman of Emirates Airline, said

“Emirates never rests on its laurels when it comes to the customer experience, and we have found a way to significantly improve comfort for Economy Class passengers, particularly those travelling on long-haul flights. The U-Dream represents a revolutionary change for those who wish to sleep, as it offers full neck support. Neck pillows are no longer needed. This is yet another innovation that demonstrates our commitment to our customers and cements our Economy Class as the best.”

Customers report that the U-Dream headrest is easy to adjust and use, and Emirates’ cabin crew are also trained to assist customers whenever necessary. The leather headrest is designed to be easily cleaned and is cleaned after every flight.

It is currently in service on three A350 aircraft, and Emirates is fitting more as soon as possible. In collaboration with Safran Seats, all Emirates A350 aircraft will have the U-Dream headrest fitted by the end of the year. The U-Dream headrest will also come pre-installed on the 270 Boeing 777X aircraft that Emirates has ordered. From 2027, installation of the U-Dream headrest will also begin on Emirates’ refurbished Airbus A380s and Boeing 777s.

Ergonomically designed seats, generous legroom, ambient lighting and personal entertainment screens help passengers arrive at their destination feeling more rested. On the latest Airbus A350 model, passengers also enjoy a spacious 3-3-3 seating configuration, large 13.3-inch 4K screens, USB-C charging, higher ceilings and Emirates’ latest multi-dimensional adjustable headrests, designed to provide greater neck support and a more restful experience on long-haul flights.

The world’s largest in-flight entertainment library

Emirates’ award-winning in-flight entertainment system, ice, offers over 6,500 channels of content, making it the largest entertainment library available on board any airline. Passengers can enjoy thousands of films, TV programmes, documentaries, music albums, podcasts and live sport from leading providers such as HBO Max, Disney+, Paramount+, the BBC, Discovery+, Shahid and Spotify. Younger travellers also have plenty to choose from, with dedicated children’s content, specially designed headphones and multiplayer games.

Fast, free connectivity above the clouds

Emirates is rolling out Starlink across its entire fleet, offering customers a fast and reliable internet connection at 40,000 feet. Economy Class passengers can stream content, browse the internet, work, play and stay in touch with friends and family throughout their journey. Emirates customers have already made one million connections to Starlink and praise the speed of the service, describing it as ‘better than at home’.

Exceptional cuisine: awarded by frequent flyers

Multi-course meals and complimentary drinks are served on all Emirates flights, regardless of the route’s duration.

The menus are inspired by regional cuisines and complemented by soft drinks, tea, coffee and alcoholic drinks, where available.

Emirates regularly treats its customers to extras such as warm biscuits, popcorn and ice cream on selected routes, whilst a wide range of special meals caters for different dietary requirements. In the recent 2026 Survey on the Best Food and Drink on Airlines, Emirates topped the rankings for first-class cuisine in the air and was rated the best for Economy Class meals, as well as for Business Class meals and cocktails, based on votes from thousands of frequent flyers.
