The premium airline has introduced new codeshare flights, thereby offering customers more options and strengthening connectivity between Hong Kong and this emerging region.
Cathay Pacific has expanded its coverage in Latin America with the addition of new codeshare flights to Fortaleza and Recife (Brazil), Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), via Madrid and in partnership with Iberia, its oneworld alliance partner. These new flights mark the first time Argentina and the Dominican Republic have been included in Cathay Pacific’s network, strengthening connectivity between Hong Kong and this emerging region of Latin America.
Cathay Pacific currently offers connections to six destinations in four Latin American countries — Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo (Brazil), Mexico City and Guadalajara (Mexico), Lima (Peru) and Santiago (Chile) — via codeshare flights with connections in Europe, North America and Oceania. Today, the Cathay Group flies to 33 destinations in countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative — the programme launched by China to promote global infrastructure and trade development — operating nearly 600 weekly flights and expanding its network with additional destinations through codeshare agreements.
In addition to these new services, Cathay Pacific will operate three extra flights a week on its direct Hong Kong–Madrid route from 25 October 2026, offering daily services between the two cities.
Lavinia Lau, Customer and Commercial Officer at Cathay Pacific, commented: “We are delighted to add these new destinations in Latin America to our codeshare network. Furthermore, by offering daily services from Madrid, we are reinforcing our position as the only airline offering direct flights between Hong Kong and Spain. These developments demonstrate our commitment to strengthening connectivity between Asia and markets around the world, offering our passengers more choice and greater convenience, whilst also consolidating Hong Kong’s role as one of the world’s leading international aviation hubs.”
Cathay Pacific’s flights between Hong Kong and Madrid will operate on a staggered timetable. The three additional services – on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays – will offer customers the option of departing Europe on an overnight flight. The timings are as follows (all times are local and subject to change and to approval by the relevant authorities):
Cathay Pacific’s Madrid route, which was first launched in 2016 with four weekly flights, has become a key link between Asia and Spain for both business and leisure travellers. In addition, the premium airline also operates a seasonal route between Hong Kong and Barcelona during the summer season, with four weekly flights.
