- Art has the power to transform the way we see a place, reveal unexpected corners and offer new ways of connecting with a destination.
- In Calvià, this idea takes shape through BetArt, a project which, for over ten years, has been transforming different spaces across the municipality into a vast open-air urban art gallery.
Through seven routes that wind their way through different parts of Calvià, BetArt brings together works by artists that engage with their surroundings and allow visitors to discover the town from a different perspective. It is an initiative that invites people to step outside conventional cultural circuits and discover contemporary art integrated into the landscape itself, whilst exploring places such as Palmanova, Magaluf, Santa Ponça, Peguera, Son Ferrer and Calvià Vila.
Beyond transforming public spaces into artistic stages, BetArt reflects Calvià’s commitment to incorporating culture, creativity and artistic talent into the destination’s experience, bringing art closer to both visitors and local residents.
A key feature of this project is now EsportArt, BetArt’s seventh and newest route – an addition that expands Calvià’s artistic itinerary and brings contemporary art to a setting as everyday as it is unexpected: sports facilities. The new route connects five venues in Peguera, Son Ferrer, Magaluf, Santa Ponça and Calvià, which have been transformed by various local artists to create a trail where urban art, sport and public space come together.
The initiative is based on a particularly unique concept: transforming places linked to sport and everyday life into new spaces for art, integrating the works into facilities frequented by residents, sportspeople, clubs and families. It is an initiative that invites visitors to discover Calvià through its artists, its spaces and its stories, adding a new cultural dimension to the experience of exploring Mallorca.
