  • Few feelings of exclusivity can compare to that of being the first guests at a new hotel.

From the Mediterranean to the Middle East, via Mexico and inland Spain, Atlantida Travel has selected seven major hotel openings that reflect how the concept of luxury is evolving.

“For our clients, the choice of hotel can completely transform a trip. That is why we follow new openings very closely: we want to know what lies behind each project, what makes it different and, above all, for what kind of traveller it can become a unique experience,” says Francesc Escánez, CEO of Atlantida Travel.

Baccarat Hotel Rome: the return of glamour to the Via Veneto

Among this year’s most eagerly awaited openings is the Baccarat Hotel Rome, which will bring the French maison’s identity to the Italian capital for the first time. The project will revitalise the historic Hotel Majestic on the Via Veneto, one of Rome’s most iconic landmarks, transforming it into a new benchmark for contemporary luxury hospitality. The hotel will feature 87 rooms and suites, as well as dining venues and an underground spa, allowing guests to enjoy the authentic “dolce vita”.

Six Senses Quexigal Palace: when heritage becomes a destination

Spain will be at the centre of one of the major openings of 2027 with Six Senses Quexigal Palace, a project that will bring the brand’s philosophy to a historic 16th-century estate in Ávila. The former palace, built by Juan de Herrera — the same architect who designed the Monastery of San Lorenzo del Escorial — is considered a treasure of Spanish heritage. The resort will feature 60 rooms, including 14 suites, as well as a private five-bedroom villa. The offering will combine gastronomy, nature and wellbeing, allowing guests to enjoy activities linked to the surroundings, such as stargazing. Its location, just 50 minutes from Madrid, makes it a particularly attractive option for luxury getaways close to home.

Le Mas Bellevue: a new take on Provence in Saint-Tropez

On the Côte d’Azur, the reconstruction of the historic Le Mas Bellevue is set to open in June 2027. The new hotel will feature 78 rooms and suites, all with a private terrace or patio, set amongst gardens and Mediterranean landscapes. The project will combine architecture by Triptyque with interiors by Gilles & Boissier and will feature a large infinity pool, a wellness centre, a bar and a restaurant overlooking the Mediterranean. Its location, just a five-minute drive from both Saint-Tropez and Pampelonne, reinforces its appeal as a luxury retreat away from the hustle and bustle, yet very close to the great icons of the French Riviera.

Rosewood Blue Palace: the Mediterranean’s new icon

In Crete, Rosewood Blue Palace will mark Rosewood Hotels & Resorts’ entry into Greece and breathe new life into one of the island’s most renowned resorts. Scheduled to open in 2027, the property is situated between Plaka and Elounda, overlooking the Gulf of Mirabello, and will be completely redesigned in line with the company’s “A Sense of Place” philosophy. The resort will feature 154 rooms and suites, 85 of which will have private pools, as well as six restaurants and bars, three outdoor swimming pools and the Asaya holistic wellness centre. The project aims to combine the elegance of the Greek islands with a contemporary interpretation of luxury, making the Mediterranean landscape and local culture an essential part of the experience.

Aman Dubai: a private oasis overlooking the Gulf

Dubai continues to establish itself as one of the world’s leading hubs for luxury with projects such as Aman Dubai, scheduled for 2027. The project will bring Aman’s philosophy—based on privacy, space and highly personalised service—to the city, in a seafront location with access to a private beach. The complex will combine a hotel, dining venues, gardens and a comprehensive wellness programme. The brand’s arrival in this idyllic setting reflects an increasingly clear trend in the ultra-luxury hospitality sector: creating private sanctuaries within some of the world’s most dynamic urban destinations.

Park Hyatt Riviera Maya: all-inclusive luxury takes it to the next level

In Mexico, Park Hyatt Riviera Maya represents one of the most interesting developments in the evolution of the all-inclusive model. The resort, situated on the Mexican Caribbean coast, will combine Park Hyatt’s sophisticated identity with a comprehensive experience that includes accommodation, dining, wellness and activities. The project will feature 148 residential-style rooms and suites, some with private pools, and a dining programme led by chefs, as well as art, Mexican crafts and a spa. It is scheduled to open in February 2027, although it is already accepting online bookings.

Raffles Trojena: luxury comes to the mountains of Saudi Arabia

The latest major venture is situated in a region still largely undiscovered by international travellers: Trojena, in Saudi Arabia. There, Raffles is set to open in 2027, at an altitude of around 2,300 metres, and aims to redefine the concept of a mountain resort in the Middle East. The project will form part of the Discover cluster and will feature 105 rooms arranged around a circular building designed to maximise views and the connection with the landscape. The opening also forms part of Trojena’s transformation into a year-round mountain destination and its future role as host of the 2029 Asian Winter Games.

Luxury that is increasingly about the experience

Beyond their differences, these seven new openings share a common direction: the hotel is no longer the final destination but becomes an essential part of the journey. The restoration of heritage, integration with nature, wellbeing, gastronomy and privacy are taking on greater importance compared to the traditional concept of luxury based solely on material exclusivity.

For Atlantida Travel, these new properties are, ultimately, a reflection of where the sector is heading: less ostentation and more authenticity; less product and more experience; fewer standardised trips and more stories tailored to each traveller.
