- The Christine Ruiz-Picasso Auditorium at the Museo Picasso Málaga is once again hosting the Málaga Philharmonic Orchestra’s chamber music series, which is celebrating its twentieth anniversary with ten concerts spanning more than three centuries of musical history, from the Baroque to contemporary composition.

Now in its twentieth edition, the Málaga Philharmonic Orchestra (OFM) Chamber Music Series will once again bring together musicians from the OFM and guest artists at the Christine Ruiz-Picasso Auditorium at the Museo Picasso Málaga for a programme spanning more than three centuries of music history. The selection of artists and music will reflect the diversity of the chamber music genre, both in terms of the variety of ensembles and the breadth of their aesthetic approaches. In this way, tradition and innovation will coexist in a musical journey that will bring together great works from the universal repertoire alongside lesser-known pieces.
The series will open on Tuesday 13 October with the Desnay Trio, followed by ensembles as diverse as the Flute and Harpsichord Duo, the Idilio Trio and the Prismas Trio, reviving works by composers less commonly heard in concert halls—such as Paul Gilson, Hermann Schroeder and Don Banks—alongside Spanish composers including Manuel de Falla, Fermín Ruiz Escobés and Bartolomé Pérez Casas.
Among the highlights is a recital by pianist Josu de Solaun, who will create a dialogue between Frédéric Chopin’s twenty-one Mazurkas and his own Tientos, building a unique bridge between the piano tradition and contemporary composition.
The voice will also take centre stage with *La voix humaine*, Francis Poulenc’s intense one-act opera based on a libretto by Jean Cocteau, performed by soprano Carla Caramujo, as well as with *Canción argentina*, a journey through the vocal music of composers such as Carlos Guastavino, Alberto Ginastera, Astor Piazzolla and Ariel Ramírez.
The Baroque period will also feature prominently through works by Bach, Telemann and Platti in a refined dialogue between flute and harpsichord, whilst the closing concert will bring together two major milestones in the repertoire for string quartet: Bedřich Smetana and Claude Debussy.
With this commemorative edition, the Málaga Philharmonic Orchestra, now celebrating its twentieth anniversary, renews its commitment to promoting chamber music and creating spaces for interaction between performers and the public, thereby consolidating its long-standing collaboration with the Picasso Museum, Málaga.
