  • This annual charity event, organised by the Malaga Museum of Automobiles and Fashion, will begin at 6.30 pm in Plaza de Tabacalera.

  • All proceeds will go to the charity ‘Superheroes. A Child, A Smile’.

The Málaga Automobile and Fashion Museum is once again hosting an event in the spirit of solidarity. Málaga City Council today hosted the official presentation of the 10th Solidarity Caravan, an initiative promoted by the MAM, which will once again bring together motoring enthusiasts, partner organisations, businesses and the public with a common goal: to raise funds for the charity ‘Superheroes. A Child, A Smile’.

The event was attended by the Councillor for Culture and Historical Heritage at Málaga City Council, Mariana Pineda; the co-directors of the Museum of the Automobile and Fashion, Elvira Carrera and Mar González; and the president of the charity, Sergio Muñoz, who revealed the details of this tenth edition, to be held on Saturday 13 June in Plaza de Tabacalera, and which will once again make solidarity the driving force behind a festive day open to all citizens.

For the Head of the Department of Culture and Historical Heritage, “the Museum of the Automobile and Fashion is marking a decade with this traditional Solidarity Parade, an event that is now well-known in Málaga and, on this occasion, the proceeds will go to the association ‘Superheroes. A Child, A Smile’. “We in the Culture Department love to talk about this kind of charity event because they are what help us grow and remain at the forefront, not only in the city, but also nationally and internationally.” The councillor added that these charitable projects “make us a better city. This Saturday we have a plan that is not only fun but also very enjoyable.”

An unmissable event in the spirit of solidarity

Over the years, the Solidarity Caravan has established itself as one of the most notable social initiatives organised by the Malaga Museum of Automobiles and Fashion. Over the course of its nine previous editions, the initiative has collaborated with various social organisations in the province as well as international associations, helping to improve the quality of life for vulnerable groups and reinforcing the museum’s commitment to social transformation and the well-being of the community.

On this occasion, all funds raised will go to the ‘Superheroes, One Child One Smile’ association, a non-profit organisation made up of volunteers who make regular visits to hospitalised children, mainly at the Materno Infantil Hospital in Málaga, as well as to children who, due to their medical circumstances, receive care at home.

Through these visits, volunteers dressed as children’s characters and superheroes help to create moments of excitement, fun and respite for the children and their families during periods of illness and hospitalisation. The funds raised will cover travel expenses, the purchase and upkeep of costumes, the purchase of toys and materials, as well as other resources necessary for the organisation to carry out its social work.

During the presentation, the co-director of the MAM, Elvira Carrera, highlighted “the importance of continuing to promote projects that encourage public participation and collaboration between institutions, the business community and social organisations, emphasising that small contributions can have a huge impact on the lives of those who need it most”.

In addition to the traditional parade of classic cars, the charity event will feature activities for the whole family, including charity raffles, children’s games, musical performances and catering. All this with the aim of creating a space for socialising and raising awareness around a charitable cause.

A charity raffle with over 150 prizes

One of the main attractions of this tenth edition will be the charity raffle, in which attendees will have the chance to win over 150 prizes donated by companies, organisations and partners who have chosen to support the initiative. For a donation of €5 per ticket, participants can win leisure experiences, tickets to theme and water parks, lunches and dinners at restaurants, hotel stays, spa treatments and many other gifts.

All proceeds from ticket sales will also go to the charity ‘Superhéroes, Un Niño Una Sonrisa’, helping to fund hospital visits and the activities the organisation runs to bring hope, joy and support to hospitalised children and their families.

Elvira Carrera wished to thank “the involvement of the collaborating companies, whose generosity has made it possible to put together a wide range of prizes and turn this raffle into one of the day’s main charitable initiatives”.

They have also encouraged the people of Málaga to join in this tenth edition and help ensure that the work of ‘Superhéroes, Un Niño Una Sonrisa’ can continue to reach more children and families going through particularly difficult times.

This tenth edition of the Solidarity Caravan will once again take place on a Saturday afternoon, specifically from 6.00 pm, when the convoy of dozens of classic cars will wind its way through the streets of Málaga city to announce the start of this tenth charity event and invite all the people of Málaga to this charitable gathering organised by the MAM. With this kick-off, from 6.30 pm, the Plaza de Tabacalera will be decked out to host this event designed for the whole family, so that both young and old can enjoy the various activities, shows and performances that the museum’s organisers have prepared, alongside a bar and food service, as well as the traditional charity raffle. All this is thanks to the collaboration of companies and organisations, not only from Málaga but also from Andalusia and the rest of Spain, which, for this edition, have chosen to support this social cause.

Special opening of the MAM

To this end, the Museum will be collaborating with the ‘Superheroes. One Child, One Smile’ by opening its doors during the Solidarity Caravan’s opening hours (specifically from 7 pm to 11 pm). For this special opening, the Museum will set the admission price at €5, with all proceeds from ticket sales during this time slot going entirely to the charity.

Solidarity Caravan Programme

This 9th Solidarity Caravan will take place on Saturday 13 June from 6.00 pm, with the Solidarity Caravan setting off led by the iconic ‘Pink’ Cadillac Eldorado, which forms part of the MAM collection, followed by various classic cars thanks to the collaboration of the clubs that join in each edition (Club Amigos Seat 124 and 1420, Club Clásicos Renault de Andalucía, Club Seat 600, Club Vehículos Clásicos Al-Ándalus, Club Automóviles de Época Málaga, Club Clásicos Brother’s Classic Blue). The route will wind through the streets of Málaga along the following itinerary: Avenida Sor Teresa Prat, Calle Princesa, Paseo Marítimo Antonio Machado, Avenida Manuel Agustín Heredia, Plaza de La Marina, Paseo del Parque, Glorieta General Torrijos, and back to the Málaga Museum of Automobiles and Fashion.
