Nestled amongst some of the most captivating hills of the Langhe region in Piedmont (province of Cuneo, Italy), BORGO MONCHIERO HERITAGE by Atmosphere breathes new life into a former 18th-century monastery. Thanks to a meticulous restoration and enhancement project, the former monastic complex, which officially opened its doors on 16 July 2026, has been transformed into a charming residence with an international outlook.
The project marks the rebirth of a historic village, now transformed into a destination of excellence, where design, art, wellbeing and gastronomy coexist in perfect harmony with the authentic identity of the region.
The result of the shared vision of its owners, Franco Giampetruzzi and Gian Maria Debenedetti, and inspired by the philosophy “Where Every Stone Holds a Story”, Borgo Monchiero is the second historic property in the “HERITAGE BY ATMOSPHERE” collection by Atmosphere Core, an international hospitality company already well-established in the Maldives and currently pursuing a global expansion strategy. With the management of this property, the company also marks its entry into the European market.

The ambitious restoration project has been led by architect Stefano Tardito and represents a project of extraordinary sensitivity towards heritage and architectural excellence, which has succeeded in restoring the ancient monastic complex without altering its original identity.
The approach successfully combines heritage conservation, the language of contemporary hospitality and technological innovation, showcasing the materials, the building volumes and the authentic atmosphere of the village. This exceptional work has been recognised with the prestigious Rēgula Award 2025 in the Hospitality Structures category, which highlights its architectural merit and its ability to reinterpret the past from a contemporary and international perspective.
Rooms in the Monastery and the Villa
The property features 25 rooms and suites spread across the historic Monastery and the Villa, offering two complementary interpretations of refined hospitality. In the Monastery, the rooms have been created from the former monastic cells, now transformed into elegant spaces that preserve original materials and historical details, enriched with modern comforts; the superior categories extend into light-filled suites with bespoke finishes that enhance the building’s authentic character. In the Villa, the rooms reflect a more residential and aristocratic elegance, with intimate, light-filled and sophisticated interiors, designed for a private stay immersed in the tranquillity of the hills. The offering is completed by the evocative Prior’s Room, a spacious apartment with interconnecting rooms, ideal for families or small groups, combining privacy, history and comfort in a unique immersive experience.
A culinary experience rooted in the local area
The dining experience at BORGO MONCHIERO HERITAGE by Atmosphere Langhe Piedmont has been entrusted to executive chef Giorgio Servetto, formerly chef at Ristoranti Nove —Michelin Star 2021–2022— and Vignamare —Michelin Green Star 2023; Michelin Star 2024–2025—who presents a cuisine that fuses contemporary creativity with a deep respect for Piedmontese tradition. Working alongside him will be resident chef Alessandro Di Giacomo, who has a long history of collaboration with Chef Servetto. His vision elegantly highlights the excellence of the Langhe region, emphasising seasonality and the quality of the produce. In the restaurant, situated within the former monastery, the cuisine engages with the historic atmosphere through iconic local dishes paired with a selection of fine wines. During the 20th century, the hills surrounding Borgo Monchiero inspired a select circle of artists, transforming the village into a hub of intense cultural activity. The silence of its ancient walls welcomed masters such as Eso Peluzzi and Claudio Bonichi, alongside key figures in Piedmontese art such as Piero Simondo, Gigi Chessa, Giulio Da Milano, Pietro Morando, Nino Aimone, Giovanni Bracco and Piero Solavaggione, giving rise to a creative dialogue that still permeates its spaces today. This legacy lives on in the works of art that enrich the interiors and exhibition spaces, transforming the property into an open-air museum.
