The three regions, members of ‘España en Floración’, are launching their programmes to experience one of the summer’s great natural spectacles amidst fields of purple, walking routes, workshops, music, gastronomy and astro-tourism.
The lavender bloom is once again becoming one of the major tourist attractions of the summer in Spain. Brihuega, Moratalla and Tiedra – three unique regions participating in ‘España en Floración’ – have put together a comprehensive programme of activities to invite locals and visitors alike to discover their landscapes at one of the most special times of the year.
Over the coming weeks, these destinations will offer experiences combining nature, culture, tradition, gastronomy, crafts, wellbeing and sustainable tourism, highlighting the appeal of lavender as a driver of rural development and a distinguishing feature of their regions.
Brihuega: music, guided tours, workshops and gastronomy
Brihuega will once again be bathed in purple this summer to mark the 2026 Lavender Blossom Festival, one of the most iconic tourist and cultural events in La Alcarria. The town has put together a packed programme of events, which will take place mainly throughout July, with activities continuing until 1 August.
One of the main highlights will be the guided tours of the lavender fields, offering visitors a close-up view of the town’s most iconic landscape during the flowering season. These tours will take place on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 7.00 pm and 8.30 pm, setting off from María Cristina Park.
The programme also includes craft workshops and creative experiences linked to lavender, such as candle-making, organic bath salts, fabric mists, natural sprays, botanical jewellery using fresh flowers and resin, pottery and impressionist watercolour painting in the open air. Many of these activities will take place in venues such as the Lavadero de Brihuega or the lavender fields themselves.
Local cuisine and produce will also play a prominent role, with guided tours of the fields accompanied by tastings of lavender mead and cheeses, as well as live demonstrations of lavender essential oil distillation carried out by farmers from Brihuega at the Jardín de la Alcarria Distillery.
Among the highlights of the programme is the Lavender Festival, which will hold its 2026 edition with concerts set amidst the natural landscape. This year’s line-up includes performances by Sidecars on 10 July; Luz Casal on 11 July; Taburete on 17 July; and Duncan Dhu on 18 July, all taking place in the lavender fields.
In addition, the Lavender Market will take place over the weekend of 11 and 12 July, stretching from the Puerta de la Cadena to the Plaza del Coso, featuring products, crafts and activities linked to lavender cultivation. The programme is rounded off with walking trails, hot-air balloon rides, stargazing, astro-tourism, paragliding, horse riding and visits to sites linked to lavender production.
With the aim of ensuring an orderly and sustainable visit, Brihuega Town Council reminds visitors of the importance of planning their visit in advance, booking accommodation and meals, using the designated car parks and respecting the plantations, as the fields are privately owned. Special traffic measures will be in place at weekends throughout July, with restrictions on access to the town centre for unauthorised private vehicles and motorhomes, as well as park-and-ride facilities with a shuttle bus service.
Moratalla launches the Lavender Blossom Train
Moratalla is kicking off a new series of activities centred around the lavender blossom, a special programme that invites visitors to discover the Lavender Region through its landscapes, scents, local culture and products linked to this crop, which is so characteristic of the town.
The programme kicks off this weekend and will run until 15 August, featuring a variety of events in locations such as El Sabinar, Zaén, Campo de Béjar and Calar de la Santa. Highlights of the planned activities include the Lavender Blossom Trail ‘Lavanda Experience’, the Scent Trail in Calar de la Santa, the Sensory Trails and the Lavender Blossom Train in the Lavender Region.
The main new feature this year will be the Blossom Train in the Lavender Region, which will run along the route El Sabinar – Zaén – Casa Pernías – El Sabinar on Friday 24th, Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th July. This initiative has been created with the aim of offering an interpretative experience of the landscape and aromatic plants, designed for the whole family and organised in a comfortable and sustainable way.
From this Saturday, 27 June, visitors will also be able to enjoy the Lavanda Experience Blossom Trail, which will run until 2 August, Monday to Sunday, from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm. This is a self-drive tour combining the countryside with local cuisine, and includes a guided tour of the lavender fields, scenic stops, an explanation of the varieties, cultivation and uses of lavender, a tasting of local products from Moratalla and a complimentary aromatic gift. Another highlight will be the Ruta de las Esencias, taking place on Saturday 4 July in Calar de la Santa. The day will begin at 09:00 with a walk starting from the village square, followed by an exhibition of machinery, plants and essential oils, traditional local tapas, a communal rice dish and a live performance by the group Alrelente. The programme is rounded off by the Sensory Trails, designed to connect visitors with the lavender landscape through experiences such as hiking, photography, painting, orienteering, wellness and cycling. These trails will run until 15 August, with a maximum of 20 participants per group; bookings can be made by calling 613 07 64 20.
Among the planned activities are an interpretive walk with a painting workshop in the lavender fields of Campo de Béjar; routes including a visit to the Hermitage and the Essential Oils distillery; a family route featuring the children’s activity ‘The Treasure Hunt’; photography walks amongst the lavender; sunset sessions with yoga or Pilates; and a cycling route through the Zaén-El Sabinar countryside.
Tiedra: lavender, distilleries, 4x4 tours and solar eclipse viewing
Tiedra Lavanda is also gearing up for one of the most eagerly awaited moments of the year: the flowering of lavender and lavandin. The Tiedra Lavanda Interpretation Centre offers an experience that allows visitors to explore the crop from different perspectives, combining nature, educational activities, artisanal production and sensory experiences.
Visitors can take guided tours of the Lavender Interpretation Centre and the essential oil distilleries, where the process of transforming the plant into its essence is demonstrated. This programme offers an insight into the agricultural, cultural and aromatic value of lavender, explaining its journey from the field to the final products.
The programme also includes visits to the fields, 4×4 tours, tastings, workshops and other sensory experiences designed to let you enjoy the landscape at the height of the flowering season.
As a major new feature, this summer Tiedra will be offering a special solar eclipse viewing event in the heart of the countryside, organised in collaboration with the Tiedra Astronomical Centre. This programme combines the charm of the lavender fields with stargazing, creating a unique experience where landscape, astronomy and nature come together.
