The camping sector continues to gain ground in Spain and is consolidating its position as one of the preferred options for travelers, with a 14% increase in bookings during 2025, according to data from Pitchup.com. The leading outdoor accommodation booking platform exceeded €500 million in total business volume generated through the platform. It also recorded 33,316 bookings in the Spanish market, placing Spain as the third country with the highest demand on the platform. This growth is reinforced by its recognition in the list of the 50 largest online travel agencies in the world by organic traffic, where Pitchup.com ranks sixth in Europe and 36th internationally. Based on this data, the platform analyzes the balance of 2025 in Spain and forecasts the main trends that will shape camping in 2026.
Spanish campsites win over adults and international tourists
The profile of travelers who choose Spanish landscapes shows a clear trend toward an adult audience, with travelers between the ages of 45 and 64 accounting for 60.7% of reservations.
In terms of group composition, couples represent the majority, with 63.5% of bookings, followed by families (25%) and groups of friends (6.2%). Furthermore, Spain remains attractive to international visitors, with 71% of bookings made by foreign travelers.
From traditional accommodations to personalized experiences
Campers continue to prefer traditional accommodations such as motorhomes, accounting for 23% of reservations, or tents (16%).
Less traditional accommodations are becoming a growing option for those seeking original and personalized experiences, with a 31% increase in the “cabins/chalets/bungalows” category compared to the previous year.
The summer months continue to lead demand
Summer remains the season with the highest demand at Spanish campsites, accounting for approximately 54% of bookings in 2025. Peaks are also recorded in other periods of the year, such as April, with 7% of bookings, and December, with 4%.
In terms of the length of stays, short trips of three days predominate, showing a slight reduction of 4% in duration compared to 2024.
Lower advance bookings and a boom in the low season in 2026
This year, camping tourism in Spain is expected to focus on flexibility and spontaneity. In 2025, 12% of bookings were made on the same day, with 38% of stays lasting only one night.
This trend is also reflected in an increase in off-season bookings, with a 35% increase for Valentine’s Day weekend this year and record demand last December.
