CARMINA BURANA UNDER THE STARS AND A NIGHT AMONG THE CEDARS: THE SPECIAL EVENT KICKING OFF THE SUMMER IN THE MADRID MOUNTAINS

Carmina Burana bajo las estrellas y una noche entre cedros: el plan especial que da inicio al verano en la Sierra de Madrid
  • Box Art Alpino invites you to kick off the summer with a getaway combining live music, fine dining and boutique accommodation.

On Saturday 27 June, at 10.30 pm, the Navacerrada Bullring will host one of the most unique cultural events of the Madrid summer: an open-air performance of *Carmina Burana*, a large-scale musical experience organised by the Atlántida Chamber Orchestra. For those wishing to turn the event into a complete getaway, Box Art Alpino offers an experience combining fine dining, nature, culture and relaxation in the very heart of the Sierra de Guadarrama.

The package invites guests to arrive in Navacerrada in good time to enjoy dinner at Cedro, the hotel’s gourmet restaurant, before attending the concert and rounding off the evening by spending the night in this unique mountain retreat, surrounded by a forest of cedars and pines. All this is just a few minutes’ walk from the venue where the performance will take place.

One of the most striking works of classical music

*Carmina Burana* is one of the most recognisable and stirring compositions in the universal classical repertoire. Carl Orff’s work, famous for its imposing opening *O Fortuna*, will be performed by the Atlántida Chamber Orchestra, an ensemble that has established itself as one of the most dynamic and innovative groups on the Spanish music scene.

Under the baton of its founder, Manuel Tévar – an internationally acclaimed conductor, pianist and composer – the ensemble stands out for bringing classical music to new audiences through accessible formats and immersive experiences that go beyond the traditional concert. The event will transform the Navacerrada Bullring into a vast open-air stage with over 100 performers on stage, where the choir, soloists and orchestra will bring to life one of the most awe-inspiring scores of all time.

An evening blending art and nature

Before the concert, the experience begins at Cedro, Box Art Alpino’s restaurant. The restaurant, renowned for its creative, ingredient-driven cuisine, offers a tasting menu that begins with appetisers such as a crispy Cajun-style salmorejo bonbon, Madrid-style sardine ceviche, bluefin tuna rolls with caviar, guacamole and sour cream, a ‘liquid’ fritter made from traditional Madrid stew, and a creamy cuttlefish croquette from Palamós. This is followed by dishes such as chestnut mousse with crispy artichoke and foie gras, Jerez-style lobster with ‘papa aliñá’, creamy rice with oak-smoked hen, Genovese-style salmon, smoked Wagyu picaña with black butter purée and lavender honey pearls, and Pad Thai with oxtail meatballs in tempura batter. The menu concludes with two sweet creations: blood orange with blueberries and mint, and a brûlée tart made with Sierra cheese and roasted pear.

And after the concert, Box Art Alpino once again proves to be the ideal destination to round off the evening. Like a modern retreat crafted from wood, iron and glass, seamlessly integrated into the natural surroundings, its twenty-three rooms are adorned with works by renowned contemporary artists, transforming each space into a small gallery, whilst its spa invites guests to continue unwinding after an evening of music. The Box Art Alpino dining experience, which includes dinner and accommodation, is available from 400 euros for two people (concert tickets not included; available HERE).
