  • From 20 to 24 May, the outdoor plaza of the Príncipe Pío shopping centre in Madrid will host some of the country’s most talked-about bakeries at The Cheesecake Cup, the culinary phenomenon that has become Spain’s first major cheesecake competition and has already attracted over 80,000 visitors and sold more than 90,000 cheesecakes in its previous editions.

  • The twelve cheesecake entries can be enjoyed alongside a carefully curated savoury food area featuring food trucks such as LAME’s gourmet burgers and Cañitas Maite’s croquettes and brioches.

Madrid is set to become the national epicentre of cheesecake with the arrival of The Cheesecake Cup, the third edition of Spain’s first cheesecake championship, which will bring together some of the country’s most prominent and viral bakeries from 20 to 24 May on the outdoor esplanade of the Príncipe Pío shopping centre.

The Cheesecake Cup is the new name under which the gastronomic project—originally launched as The Champions Cheesecake—continues. It is the first national championship created to bring together some of Spain’s finest bakeries specialising in cheesecake and to find the public’s favourite cheesecake. The project was launched by Mauro Fauquet and Víctor Hernández, two young entrepreneurs and visionaries, both under the age of 20, who recognised the huge social and gastronomic phenomenon that cheesecake is currently experiencing in Spain.

In this new phase, both entrepreneurs have joined forces with the organisers of The Burger Cup, a national benchmark in urban gastronomic events, to jointly promote The Cheesecake Cup as an even more ambitious format with the aim of launching a national tour. Following the success of its first two editions held in 2026 in Las Rozas and Leganés, which attracted over 80,000 attendees and saw 90,000 cheesecakes sold, the event is now coming to the capital, Madrid, for the first time before continuing its tour of other Spanish cities to be announced shortly. The essence of the project remains unchanged: to discover the country’s most creative, viral and sought-after cheesecakes in an experience that blends gastronomy, leisure and foodie culture.

Over five days, locals and visitors alike will be able to sample some of the most creative, innovative and sought-after cheesecakes of the moment, in an event that combines fine dining, live music, food trucks and outdoor urban entertainment.

This year’s edition of The Cheesecake Cup will feature six specialist bakeries from across Spain, many of which have won culinary awards, received critical and public acclaim, gone viral on social media, and share a common philosophy based on product quality, creativity and flavour.

The most talked-about bakeries and the most innovative cheesecakes

Each bakery will compete with two different entries: a classic cheesecake, showcasing the purest, creamiest essence of this iconic dessert, and an innovative version, designed to surprise with much bolder combinations, modern techniques and flavours capable of becoming the next culinary obsession for cheesecake lovers.

Among the participants are names that are already essential in the national cheesecake scene. From Cádiz comes Quesarte, one of the most renowned bakeries in southern Spain, famous for ‘La del Tazón’, a creation inspired by the legendary milk-filled cereals that has already been awarded as one of the best innovative cakes in the country. Also taking part is Materia by Pedro Trujillo, with outlets in Toledo, Talavera de la Reina and Madrid Xanadú, whose creation ‘La Reina’, inspired by caramelised French toast, won over the jury and the public in previous editions thanks to its balance between tradition and contemporary haute patisserie.

Representing the Community of Madrid will be La Paca Cheesecakes, with outlets in Alcalá de Henares and Alcobendas, entering one of the most viral recipes of the moment: ‘La Hippo’, a Happy Hippo and hazelnut cheesecake that has become a foodie phenomenon on social media. The flavour of La Mancha will be brought by La Migueleta, a historic bakery in Albacete that will reinterpret the legendary ‘miguelito’ from La Roda in cheesecake form, blending memory, tradition and culinary trends.

Meanwhile, Los Dulces de Palmira, hailing from San Juan in Alicante, will be presenting ‘Dinostálgica’, a white chocolate cheesecake inspired by the classic Dinosaurus biscuits that taps directly into the most nostalgic and viral imagery in contemporary patisserie. Rounding out the line-up is iaia, one of Galicia’s most acclaimed cheesecake bakeries; Gemma y Naza, with bakeries in A Coruña, Ourense, Monforte de Lemos and Lugo, will be coming to Madrid with new creations made especially for this edition.

The event times will be:

  • Wednesday and Thursday: from 5.00 pm to 11.00 pm.
  • Friday and Saturday: from 11.00 am to midnight.
  • Sunday: from 11.00 am to 10.00 pm.

The cakes will cost €6.50. The event will also feature DJs and a savoury food truck area with offerings from LAME, which specialises in gourmet burgers, and Cañitas Maite, known for its renowned croquettes and brioches. The Cheesecake Cup is supported by Amstel, Coca-Cola and Just Eat.

“We wanted to take the cheesecake phenomenon much further. After seeing the incredible reception of the first editions, we realised it wasn’t just a dessert: it had become a genuine gastronomic and social experience. The Cheesecake Cup was created to bring together talent, creativity and plenty of spectacle around the cheesecake,” explains Mauro Fauquet, the project’s creator.

“This new phase reinforces our ambition to establish The Cheesecake Cup as the premier national cheesecake championship, with a view to expanding into different cities across Spain. The partnership with The Burger Cup allows us to combine experience, scale and vision to continue developing a leading gastronomic format, capable of bringing together the country’s finest bakeries on a single circuit,” adds Mauro Fauquet.
