Box Art Alpino offers a getaway that combines fine dining, boutique accommodation and one of the summer’s major cultural events under the stars.
Some nights are worth making last a little longer, and the night of Friday 17 July promises to be one of them. The Navacerrada Bullring will host a performance by Estrella Morente, who will take the audience on a captivating journey through Spanish music, performing Federico García Lorca “Canciones españolas antiguas” and Manuel de Falla’s “El Amor Brujo” as part of the programme for the sixth edition of Atlántida Musicfest, a festival organised by the Atlántida Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Manuel Tévar.
For those wishing to turn the concert into a genuine summer getaway, the Box Art Alpino hotel offers the full experience: arriving in Navacerrada in good time to enjoy dinner at Cedro, being moved by one of flamenco’s most universal voices, and ending the evening relaxing amongst the cedar and pine forests of the Sierra de Guadarrama.
The fire of the Spanish soul under the stars
Entitled ‘Lorca, Falla and Estrella Morente: the fire of the Spanish soul’, the show takes the audience on a journey through some of the most iconic works of our musical heritage. In the first part, the Granada-born artist will perform a selection from the Canciones españolas antiguas compiled by Federico García Lorca, featuring such well-known pieces as Anda, jaleo, Los cuatro muleros and El Café de Chinitas.
The second part will be dedicated to “El Amor Brujo”, Manuel de Falla’s masterpiece in its original 1914 version. A score brimming with passion, mystery and dramatic force which, in Estrella Morente’s voice, takes on a unique intensity and transforms the concert into a tribute to the cultural essence of Spain. All this takes place in an unusual setting: the Navacerrada Bullring, where the natural surroundings of the Sierra de Madrid, the open sky and the proximity to the stage create an intimate atmosphere, capable of heightening the emotion of every performance.
An evening to savour and prolong the excitement
Before Estrella Morente takes to the stage, Box Art Alpino invites you to arrive in Navacerrada in good time to enjoy dinner at its gourmet restaurant Cedro, where creative cuisine and seasonal produce set the scene for an evening dedicated to culture and excitement.
The tasting menu begins with a succession of small bites such as the crispy Cajun-style salmorejo bonbon, Madrid-style sardine ceviche, bluefin tuna roll with caviar, guacamole and sour cream, the liquid fritter of Madrid-style cocido, and the creamy Palamós cuttlefish croquette. The journey continues with dishes such as chestnut mousse with crispy artichoke and foie gras, sherry-glazed lobster with ‘papa aliñá’, creamy rice with oak-smoked chicken, Genovese-style salmon, smoked Wagyu picaña with black butter purée and lavender honey pearls, and Pad Thai with oxtail meatballs in tempura, before concluding with two desserts: blood orange with blueberries and mint, and brûlée tart made with Sierra cheese and roasted pear.
After the concert, just a few minutes’ walk from the Navacerrada Bullring, Box Art Alpino allows you to prolong the magic of the evening in a contemporary retreat nestled amongst cedar and pine trees. Its 23 rooms, decorated with contemporary artworks, invite you to wake up at your leisure after a night of music, whilst its spa offers the perfect finishing touch to a getaway where nature, wellbeing and culture come together in a single experience. The experience includes dinner and accommodation (from 400 euros for two people). It does not include admission to the concert, available HERE.
