- The International Tourism Fair highlights designs from Castilla y León, Madrid and Galicia in the Autonomous Communities category; from Guatemala, Abu Dhabi and Egypt in the Countries and Regions category; and from Vincci, Meliá and Alsa in the Companies category.
- The Government of Cantabria, Grupo Piñero, Castelldefels Town Council and Turismo de Galicia recognised for their sustainable participation.
The International Tourism Fair, organised by IFEMA MADRID from 21 to 25 January, announced during its third professional day the 46th Best Stand Awards and 7th Sustainable Stand Awards, which recognise the design, image and functionality of the stands, as well as their commitment to sustainable participation.
Vincci, Meliá and Alsa win Best Stand award in the Companies category
The Vincci stand offers an original, fun and moving concept, design and staging. The company showcases the world of hospitality with ingenious details that leave Op art pictures or Instagram-worthy spaces.
For its part, Meliá has managed to convey its simple and elegant image, with a marked Mediterranean and natural touch. With an olive tree as its central axis and a large skylight, the architecture of the space develops organically. Elements of Spanish and natural essence — ceramic latticework, recognisable landscaping, an earthy colour palette and fine translucent panels — make up a functional stand that conveys beauty, serenity and sustainability.
With a layout divided by a corridor, Alsa has integrated both blocks with a simplicity that reflects solid design work and a successful translation of the graphic brand into the space. The two cantilevered canopies take visitors on an imaginary journey guided by reinterpreted typography and a deep blue sky that accompanies them along the way.
Guatemala, Abu Dhabi and Egypt, winners in Countries and Regions
Guatemala has a delicate, elegant stand imbued with ancestral beauty. The space uses four essential elements: wood, coloured textile threads, a large pyramidal screen and the image of Mayan glyphs. In this way, the destination conveys the perfect representation of what the country is all about through minimalist design: nature, architecture, craftsmanship and tradition.
At the Abu Dhabi stand, the country’s luxury and traditions are evident through elegant finishes and ethnic touches. The space recreates a large oasis and an urban area, highlighting the soft carpet, sand, latticework, dark wood details and green-toned furniture, integrated with modern and organic constructions.
Egypt brings its historical legacy to FITUR with its stand. On one side is Abu Simbel and, one pavilion further south, the new museum in Cairo. The pharaonic presence is reflected in these two monumental installations, both in the commercial space and in the exhibition space (museum). Egyptian stone from Aswan is present in most of the walls, as well as in the bright spaces that evoke the power of the sun and pharaonic grandeur.
Castilla y León, Madrid and Galicia, winners in the Autonomous Communities
The Castilla y León stand, under the slogan ‘The sky has chosen us’, offers a dark and mysterious sky, distant stars, moons and planets that can be observed in broad daylight. The entire Castilian territory is filled with a false nocturnality generated by the imminent solar eclipse. The space allows visitors to participate in everything that is about to happen during the summer of August 2026.
The Madrid stand, with ‘Madrid Marca, the brand of Madrid’, manages to attract attention from every angle of the pavilion. This monumental space invites visitors to discover every corner, where the Santiago Bernabéu stadium is present, but also the roads that Madrileños travel every day, the flow of a contemporary city that knows how to maintain its roots, and even a race track. In addition, the way in which it integrates technology with tradition is reflected in the future and manages to remain relevant over the years and fashions.
Finally, Galicia presented its proposal with the land of water and rain as the protagonists. With a shower of changing images and mirror elements, the Galicia stand continuously reflects water, light and movement to let drop by drop pieces of everything it is proud of fall.
Winners of the 7th FITUR 2026 Sustainable Stand Awards
Sustainability is the backbone of FITUR and, in order to highlight the efforts of tourist destinations and exhibiting companies participating in the largest international tourism event in line with the SDGs, FITUR organises the Sustainable Stand Awards.
On this occasion, Galicia has been recognised for its commitment to innovation through a textile material made from the recycling of more than 50,000 plastic bottles, used in the construction of the stand panels.
Cantabria, for its part, bases its project on the development of its own platform, ‘Inicia 2030’, designed to monitor its sustainability objectives and results.
In addition, it has a dismantling protocol that avoids the demolition of the exhibition space.
Grupo Piñero has been awarded in this edition for its comprehensive sustainability project, which represents a balanced global commitment and involves all stakeholders, including visitors.
Castelldefels Town Council has been recognised for structuring its commitment to sustainability around cultural identity, focusing on an element as indigenous as the beach bar, which not only serves as an aesthetic reference but also provides the material for the platform and other elements of the stand.
