- The resort has seen a 20% increase in bungalow stays, partly thanks to the increase in supply, although it continues to offer plots as its main product.
- It has been a year marked by Germany’s continued rise above the Netherlands and growth in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Playa Montroig Camping Resort closes the 2025 season with results that confirm the strength of Mediterranean camping and the progressive evolution in accommodation patterns. Although the resort has operated for fewer days than in 2024—due to a later opening and a slightly earlier closing—the data shows an increase in nights in the main types of accommodation and particularly positive performance in the international market.
Bungalows were one of the most dynamic types of accommodation this year, with 11,984 overnight stays, 20.49% more than in 2024, driven by the growing preference for this format and the increase in available units (69 compared to 60 in the previous year). Even so, pitches continue to be the backbone of the campsite: with 86,639 overnight stays, they increased by 4.04% compared to the previous year and maintain a clear majority position within the total number of stays.
In terms of market distribution, Spain is once again the leading nationality, with 3,836 stays. The most relevant data for the year is that Germany consolidated its second position with 2,383 stays, once again placing it above the Netherlands, which recorded 1,939. Dutch campers, who historically have been a very strong nationality in terms of bookings at this resort due to their great love of camping, are a profile that stands out in the high season months and whose average spending is higher.
The evolution of these markets reflects a similar dynamic at the national level, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE): cumulative arrivals from Germany grew by 1.37%, the Netherlands by 3.38% and the United Kingdom by 4% so far in 2025. Ireland, which is up 51.66% at the resort, also shows sustained growth in Spain, with a cumulative +10.33% in the same period. Despite the country’s economic context, the German market is growing by 4.98% in Playa Montroig, while the Dutch market is declining slightly without losing relevance.
The average stay is 11.66 days, but the data shows very different patterns depending on the visitor’s origin. Belgians, with 18.41 days, are once again the ones who stay the longest at the resort (as in 2024), followed by the Dutch, who stay for 14.17 days, and the Germans, with 10.94 nights. At the opposite end of the scale are Ireland, with 8.83 days, and Switzerland, with 9.95, the shortest stays of the season. Spain, with 10.91 nights, remains in an intermediate position.
These differences reflect the coexistence of several travel models within Mediterranean camping: from long Central European holidays to shorter stays linked to markets with more complex travel arrangements or tighter schedules.
Reservation data also shows significant changes in customer behaviour. In 2025, valid online reservations increase by 15.1%, while cancellations are reduced to 6%, two points less than in 2024. Overall, the digital channel grows by 12.8%, confirming greater confidence in direct booking and less indecision in the purchasing process.
According to Alejandro Giménez, director of Playa Montroig Camping Resort, ‘this season’s data shows a balanced evolution of Mediterranean camping. The pitch remains the core of our product, the bungalow continues to grow and we are seeing positive changes in international markets, especially in Germany and the United Kingdom, which, through our campsite, we notice are audiences with an interest in coming camping in Spain’. Giménez adds that ‘the recovery of the German market, the increase in the British market and the emergence of Ireland confirm that customers are looking for comfort, longer stays and quality services, and that Mediterranean camping continues to consolidate its position as a strong option within European tourism’.
