LEONARDO HOTELS ACQUIRES FOUR HOTELS IN GERMANY IN A SINGLE TRANSACTION

Leonardo Hotels incorpora cuatro hoteles en Alemania en una única operación.
  • The acquisition of four hotels in high-potential urban locations —in Berlin, Düsseldorf and Dortmund— will add more than a thousand new rooms to the chain’s portfolio.

Leonardo Hotels Central Europe continues its expansion in Germany with the simultaneous acquisition of two hotels at Alexanderplatz in Berlin, one hotel in Düsseldorf and another in Dortmund. These properties, which add 1,040 new rooms to the chain, stand out for their central locations and for complementing the hotel group’s portfolio in the German market by offering different hospitality concepts for business travel, MICE and leisure.

Berlin: 624 rooms in the heart of the German capital

The two new hotels set to open their doors at Alexanderplatz bring the chain’s total number of properties in Berlin to nine. Together, they offer 624 rooms in one of the German capital’s most popular tourist areas, very close to the TV Tower and with direct links to the public transport network.

The Hotel Berlin Alexanderplatz by Leonardo Hotels will initially operate as a white-label property and will be incorporated into Leonardo Hotels’ brand portfolio once the integration phase is complete. The hotel features 336 rooms and suites, a restaurant, a bar, a gym and sauna area, and 13 meeting rooms with capacity for over 700 people, making it a particularly attractive option for business travellers, meetings and events.

The Leonardo Smart Berlin Alexanderplatz, the second hotel under this new Leonardo Hotels brand, is situated right next door. This former H2 Hotel, with 288 rooms, features a breakfast restaurant, a mini-market, a bike hire service and a car park. It also offers quadruple rooms for families and groups, with a deliberately simple and convenient hotel concept in an exceptionally central location.

Düsseldorf and Dortmund: 416 rooms in North Rhine-Westphalia

Leonardo Hotels is also strengthening its presence in its westernmost federal state, North Rhine-Westphalia, by adding two properties with different concepts, bringing its total in this region to five.

The Leonardo Smart Düsseldorf, with 250 rooms, is situated one kilometre from Düsseldorf Central Station and five kilometres from the airport, and is the first Leonardo Smart Hotel in the federal state. It is another former H2 Hotel, featuring a spacious restaurant, bar and car park. Guests can choose from a variety of room categories, including double, twin, quadruple and accessible rooms.

The Leonardo Royal Dortmund is the other property added in North Rhine-Westphalia and stands out for its focus on the business and MICE sectors. It is situated directly opposite the city’s exhibition and conference centre and has 166 rooms and suites. The accommodation is complemented by a restaurant with a sunny terrace, a bar and a spa area featuring a sauna, steam room and gym. The hotel also has six function rooms with a capacity of up to 200 people for meetings and events.

Dortmund city centre’s main tourist and leisure attractions – Westfalenpark and Signal Iduna Park – are just two kilometres away. The Leonardo Royal Dortmund, formerly the Steigenberger Dortmund, is the Leonardo Group’s second hotel in the city and is an excellent choice for both business and leisure travellers. A major refurbishment of its facilities is planned for next year, covering both the guest rooms and the public areas.

“The simultaneous acquisition of four hotels sends a clear signal of our continued growth in Germany,” says Yoram Biton, Managing Director of Leonardo Hotels for Central Europe. “Berlin, Düsseldorf and Dortmund are attractive markets for us, where demand across the various segments is strong. These new hotels will enable us to expand our offering and welcome more guests in these key locations. Furthermore, we will strengthen our presence in the respective cities.”
