On Sunday 23rd, Madrid hosted the first edition of the AMAE Audiovisual Editing Awards, held at Cineteca Madrid. The awards are promoted by the Spanish Association of Audiovisual Editors (AMAE) and Madrid Film Office, the audiovisual office of Madrid City Council. They were created with the aim of highlighting the work of editing teams, from assistants to post-production managers, and showcasing their contribution across all disciplines in the sector, including fiction, documentaries, entertainment, advertising, music videos and reporting.
The collaboration of Madrid Film Office is part of its strategy to strengthen the entire audiovisual value chain in Madrid and the City Council’s commitment to consolidating the city as a major production centre, raising the profile of the trades and professionals that make this industry possible.
The AMAE Awards ceremony was hosted by actress and director Julia de Castro and brought together renowned figures from the audiovisual world, including Teresa Font, Ángeles González-Sinde, Nuria Gago, Laura María Campos, Azucena Rodríguez, Eugenio Recuenco, Koldo Serra and Josep Amorós, who presented the awards.
Winners of the first edition of the AMAE Awards for Editing
In this first edition of the awards, prizes were presented in nine categories. The award for Best Editing in a Feature Film went to Victoria Lammers for her work on La infiltrada (Arantxa Echevarría, 2024). In the Feature Documentary category, Marcos Flórez and Cristóbal Fernández won the award for La guitarra flamenca de Yerai Cortés (Antón Álvarez – C. Tangana, 2024). In the field of television series, the award for best editing in a drama series went to Alberto Del Campo, Mario Sierra and Regino Hernández for Los años nuevos (Rodrigo Sorogoyen, 2024). and the award for Best Editing in a Documentary Series went to Jorge García Soto and Pablo Barce for their work on How to Hunt a Monster (Carles Tamayo, 2024).
In the categories for television programmes, Aïda Rodríguez, Jordi Xercavins and Joan Álvarez won the award for best editing in an entertainment programme for the second season of Traitors España, and Pablo Gómez Prieto and Jesús Sánchez Romeva won the award for best editing in a news and current affairs programme for the fourth season of Extraterrestres, ellos están entre nosotros (Aliens, they are among us). In the short formats, the award for best editing of a Short Film/Medium-length Film went to Azucena Baños for Sexo a los 70 (Vanesa Romero, 2025), and the award for best editing of a Music Video went to Pablo Gómez-Pan for his work on the music video for Aaron Rux & The Crying Cowboys’ The Get Backbone Sessions (Sebas Alfie, 2024). Finally, in the Advertising category, the award went to Giacomo Prestinari for his advertising videos Para ser listo no hace falta pensar mucho | Atraco (To be smart, you don’t need to think too much | Robbery), for OUIGO, and Increíblemente fresco (Unbelievably long lasting), for the Old Spice brand.
A week dedicated to the craft of audiovisual editing
In connection with the awards, AMAE and Madrid Film Office have organised several activities to promote professional exchange and highlight the role of editing in audiovisual narrative. On 22 November, a session dedicated to the use of artificial intelligence in publishing took place, sponsored by Flawless, a leading company in AI applied to the sector.
On Wednesday, 26 November, the Royal Hall of the Casa de la Panadería hosted two informative round tables. The first, with emerging editors such as Martí Cruz, Ángela Mata and Rubén Casas, moderated by post-production coordinator Natalia Martínez Jáñez. She was followed by a table with the winners of the AMAE Awards.
Madrid Film Office continues to strengthen its support for the sector, adding these awards to other recent initiatives such as the II Yvonne Blake Awards, organised by AAPEE, and MicroSalón AEC, the leading filmmaking event organised by the Spanish Association of Directors of Photography.
