- The Formula 1 Tag Heuer Spanish Grand Prix will feature Ford as Local Event Supporter.
- Starting today, the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix will have Ford as its Local Event Supporter. The partnership comes in a year marked by Ford’s return to Formula 1 and Madrid’s return to the premier class of motorsport calendar.
As part of the agreement, the company will provide a fleet of vehicles to cover operational and mobility needs throughout the year.
The president and CEO of Ford Spain and Portugal, Jesús Alonso, handed over the vehicles, which will be used for logistics at Ifema Madrid, and in particular for the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix, at an official ceremony held near the tunnel that will connect the two parts of the MADRING circuit divided by the M11.
There, Jesús Alonso said: “For Ford, being part of Formula 1’s return to Madrid is an extraordinary milestone that coincides with our own return to top-level competition with Red Bull Ford Powertrains. This alliance is also the best showcase for our transformation towards electrification: the fleet of vehicles we are delivering today is 100% electric, reaffirming our commitment to zero-emission mobility. We want to demonstrate that innovation, high performance and sustainability are the driving forces behind the Spanish Grand Prix at MADRING.”
For his part, José Vicente de los Mozos, Vice-President of the Executive Committee of Ifema Madrid, has assured that Ford’s wide range and experience in professional fleets positions the brand as the ideal partner to meet the logistical, operational and organisational needs of the Grand Prix: ‘It is almost a natural union between a brand as closely linked to F1 as Ford…’
Ford will also have a prominent presence during the Grand Prix in different areas of the circuit, with official activations, its own content and brand experiences for fans.
After the agreement was signed, the press in attendance were able to see first-hand the good progress of the MADRING circuit construction work from aboard several Ford off-road vehicles. The media toured both the Valdebebas section and the southern area of the exhibition centre, where the main straight and the pit building, which will house the logistical heart of the circuit, will be located. During the visit, journalists were able to test the off-road capability, versatility and reliability of Ford vehicles, which are the most suitable for moving around the construction site of the MADRING circuit, where the terrain requires traction and robustness.
The agreement with the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix for 2026 positions Ford as a strategic mobility partner, with a long-term vision linked to innovation, technology and experience in major events.
Ford's relationship with the world of Formula 1
The alliance reinforces Ford Motor Company’s historic connection with motorsport. The Michigan-based brand is the third most successful engine manufacturer in Formula 1 history, primarily as an engine supplier through its partnership with Cosworth. From 1967 to 2004, Ford supplied engines to several teams, including Lotus and McLaren, and won 176 Grand Prix races.
In 2026, the brand will open a new chapter in its history as it returns to Formula 1 with Red Bull Powertrains. This long-term technical partnership with Red Bull Powertrains marks a return after more than two decades.
About the SPANISH FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX
The 2026 Formula 1 Tag Heuer Spanish Grand Prix will be held from 11 to 13 September at MADRING, a new 5.4 km semi-urban circuit with 22 corners designed to offer a spectacular experience. Among them is La Monumental, set to become the iconic point of the track: a curve of more than 550 metres with a 24% banking, which will pose a unique challenge for the drivers.
It will also be one of the best-connected circuits on the calendar. Located within the city and just five minutes from the airport, it has a metro stop at its main entrance, a train station and multiple city bus lines. It is estimated that at least 80% of attendees will arrive by public transport, reducing the carbon footprint.
