The museum is hosting a new exhibition in which the Malaga-based artist explores the sea as an emotional focal point and a contemporary pictorial language.
The Malaga Museum of Automobiles and Fashion opened the temporary exhibition “Mis ojos, mi mar” (“My Eyes, My Sea”) by Malaga-based artist Manu Garrido yesterday, Thursday; the exhibition will be on display at the museum until 30 June.
The exhibition brings together a selection of works in which the artist continues to develop his characteristic visual language, closely linked to the sea as the conceptual and emotional axis of his work. Through painting, composition and chromatic exploration, Garrido constructs a visual universe where the sea is understood not only as a landscape, but as a life experience, memory and symbolic territory.
The artist’s work forms part of a career marked by the constant relationship between art and sailing. Self-taught from childhood and linked for decades to the world of sailing and competitive sport, Garrido resumed his artistic practice in 2018 after a long period devoted to other professional activities, since then consolidating a recognisable style based on colour and his personal interpretation of the maritime environment.
“My Eyes, My Sea” delves into this intimate gaze upon the marine environment, where the perception of water, light and movement are transformed into a pictorial language of his own. The exhibition as a whole thus reinforces a line of work in which the artist explores the sea as emotional material and as a central element of his creative identity.
The exhibition forms part of the museum’s regular tour and can be visited with a standard ticket, at no additional cost.
