  • The RTVE programme will broadcast the first outdoor challenge of the new series of the talent show today, Monday, at 10.50 pm, filmed at the former Tobacco Factory in Málaga.

The Málaga Museum of Automobiles and Fashion will be one of the locations that viewers of ‘MasterChef Celebrity Legends’ will be able to discover this evening, as the new series premieres this Monday, 7 September, at 10.50 pm on La 1 and RTVE Play. The museum forms part of the programme’s first outdoor challenge, filmed in the vicinity of the former Málaga Tobacco Factory.

The new series of the culinary talent show, produced by RTVE in collaboration with Shine Iberia (Banijay Iberia), brings back fifteen contestants from previous seasons of ‘MasterChef Celebrity’, who are returning to the kitchens to take on a new challenge. Among them are Anabel Alonso, Bibiana Fernández, Paz Vega, Juanjo Ballesta, Edu Soto, Juan Betancourt, Santiago Segura, Florentino Fernández, David Bustamante, María Escoté, Ruth Lorenzo, Marina Rivers, Pocholo Martínez-Bordiú and Mala Rodríguez.

The first outdoor challenge will take the contestants to Málaga, the 2026 European Capital of Gastronomic Culture, where the programme’s kitchens will be set up in the gardens of the former Tobacco Factory. The historic complex, now one of the city’s main cultural and technological hubs, is also home to the Museum of the Automobile and Fashion, alongside other landmark venues.

During the challenge, the contestants will have to prepare a three-course menu for 100 diners, designed by Michelin-starred chefs Cristina Cánovas and Diego Aguilar. The challenge will also feature the participation of Málaga-born actor Antonio Banderas, who will join the judging panel on this journey through the city’s gastronomy and identity.

Tonight’s broadcast will showcase to a national audience the surroundings of the former Tobacco Factory and the various cultural projects currently based in this historic complex. Among them is the Museum of Automobiles and Fashion, whose curatorial approach establishes a dialogue between motoring, haute couture, design and heritage through an international collection of historic vehicles and fashion pieces.

The museum’s appearance in the premiere of ‘MasterChef Celebrity Legends’ is part of the growing trend of using Málaga and its cultural venues as locations for nationally broadcast audiovisual productions. In this instance, the programme incorporates the museum’s surroundings into a television narrative that links culture, gastronomy, tourism and entertainment, helping to bring the city’s cultural heritage to new audiences.

The filming also took place as part of a production recognised by Málaga City Council as a sustainable audiovisual production, a distinction linked to the implementation of measures relating to waste management, energy optimisation, the reduction of food waste and the use of locally sourced produce. The episode was also made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Regional Ministry of Tourism, Justice, Deregulation and Local Administration of the Regional Government of Andalusia.

For the Museum of Automobiles and Fashion, its participation in the programme represents a new opportunity for national visibility and for linking up with initiatives that help to showcase Málaga’s cultural offering. The broadcast of this first episode will also enable millions of viewers to discover the setting of a museum that has established itself as one of the city’s leading cultural venues.
