MAYURA INVITES YOU TO CELEBRATE A MOVIE-WORTHY VALENTINE’S DAY WITH A BOLLYWOOD-INSPIRED MENU

  • From 7 to 15 February, the restaurant will offer its diners a gastronomic experience inspired by the great love stories of Indian cinema.

This Valentine’s Day, Mayura restaurant proposes celebrating love as in the great Bollywood films: with emotion, colour and a soundtrack of a thousand and one flavours. The Indian restaurant in Barcelona’s Eixample district invites you to go beyond the traditional romantic dinner with its Bollywood Special Menu · ‘Flavours of Love’, a gastronomic experience inspired by the most iconic romantic films in Indian cinema, a menu to share and let your senses run wild.

Available only from 7 to 15 February, the Bollywood Special Menu · ‘Flavours of Love’ pays tribute to the great films of Indian cinema, one of the most influential film industries in the world, with more than 1,500 films produced each year and an imaginary world where love, music and emotion are the absolute protagonists. Mayura brings this universe to each of the dishes in this new offering, combining authentic Indian cuisine, cultural references and a carefully crafted narrative, ideal for couples looking for a special and different experience.

The seventh art on your plate

Designed as a journey for two, the Bollywood Special Menu · ‘Flavours of Love’ consists of dishes to share, a way of eating deeply rooted in Indian tradition, but also very fitting for occasions such as 14 February.

To start with, there are three starters. First, there is Mera Naam Joker Red Chicken Tikka, tender tandoori chicken marinated in yoghurt and mild spices, inspired by the 1970 film ‘Mera Naam Joker’, a story of modern passion, like this dish, which brings intensity and character, ‘like a love that does not go unnoticed’. Simran’s Vegetable Samosas, crispy on the outside and spicy on the inside, are like classic, familiar love, built with patience and conviction, and inspired by the feature film ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ (1995). And finally, the Spinach and Cheese Sholay Pakoras, golden and light, inspired by the story of loyalty and camaraderie in the 1975 film ‘Sholay’.

In the main courses, Mayura shows the balance that defines her cuisine: tradition and modernity, flavour and technique and, above all, well-integrated spices. The Veer–Zaara Lemon Vegetable Jalfrezi, with sautéed vegetables, fresh tomato, ginger and a hint of citrus, offers a light and aromatic vegetable option, like a love that waits, endures and remains pure through time (a dish inspired by the 2004 film ‘Veer–Zaara’).

The 3 Idiots Prawn Butter Masala Fry, with prawns in a creamy tomato and butter sauce, represents the most indulgent and festive side of Indian cuisine, a dish inspired by the 2009 film ‘3 Idiots’, which tells a story of friendship, complicity and enjoying the moment. Meanwhile, Kuch Kuch Coco Hai (Coconut Chicken Curry), with coconut milk and delicate spices, offers smoothness and balance, ideal for those new to this type of cuisine. A dish inspired by ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, a 1998 film that tells a story of love that blossoms from friendship and evolves over time.

A tasty cast

The side dishes also play a key role: Sita Ramam’s Basmati Rice, made with long-grain, aromatic and fluffy basmati rice, takes its name from a more recent film, from 2022, and represents a love that is written slowly; while Laapataa Ladies’ Butter Naan and Garlic Naan, freshly baked in the tandoor, enhance the experience of eating with your hands, sharing and enjoying without rushing.

The sweet finale, which you can choose yourself, puts the emotional finishing touch to the menu. The Gulab Jamun Dulhan, warm and bathed in rose and cardamom syrup, evokes the grand weddings of Bollywood, while the Rasmalai of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, soft and scented with saffron, offers a delicate, profound and sincere ending, like that of the film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008).

With this offering, Mayura—a benchmark for Indian cuisine in Barcelona since 2006—reinforces its commitment to a gastronomy that goes beyond the plate, where culture, stories and emotion are part of the experience. Because, as in the best Bollywood films, love is lived intensely… and best enjoyed sitting at a good table.

Mayura, 20 years as a benchmark for Indian cuisine in Barcelona

Mayura, which in Sanskrit means peacock — a symbol of beauty, wisdom and prosperity in Indian culture — has been one of the leading lights of Indian cuisine in Barcelona since 2006. Founded by Rajnish Kapoor and his wife Mayura, it offers a sensory experience that evokes the most refined aspects of India, where every detail of the space has been carefully thought out. Its menu combines great classics of Indian cuisine with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, prepared with fresh ingredients and traditional techniques such as the tandoor oven.

The project is completed by Roti, its more informal version in Mataró, and the Mayura and Roti delivery service, which has also arrived in Madrid to bring authentic Indian cuisine to your door.
