- The Attica metropolitan region held a destination presentation event in Barcelona, where the area’s main new tourism developments were unveiled, along with its outstanding cultural and gastronomic offerings.
- The event, which took place on Monday, was attended by professionals from the tourism sector, travel agencies, tour operators and the media.
The event, organised by Sol de Grecia with the support of the Spanish-Greek Chamber of Commerce, was attended by Ms Athina Kolyva, Head of the Tourism Directorate for the Attica Metropolitan Region, who welcomed the guests and presented the destination’s value proposition across all segments of the tourism offering for the Spanish market, and was accompanied by Mr Athanasios Thanasou, a specialist from the Attica Metropolitan Region’s tourism promotion department.
During her speech, the representative highlighted the region’s many attractions and emphasised Attica’s appeal to travellers seeking to combine culture, history, gastronomy and authentic experiences.
“When we think of Attica, we inevitably think of Athens, but the region has so much more to offer. In addition to its history and heritage, it offers increasingly attractive options for sun holidays, cruises, cultural and gastronomic experiences, and even MICE events, as well as a lively nightlife and the chance to enjoy its islands just a few kilometres from the capital. We want Spanish travellers to discover all these possibilities and find new reasons to return to Attica,” confirmed Ms Athina Kolyva.
The presentation showcased a region centred on Athens but with attractions that extend far beyond the capital. Its rich heritage, linked to the origins of Western civilisation, is combined with a dynamic metropolis, traditional Mediterranean cuisine and an extensive coastline waiting to be explored.
Among its main attractions are the Acropolis and the Parthenon, icons of the classical era. The region is also home to gems such as the Athenian Riviera: a coastal strip stretching from the port of Piraeus to Cape Sounion, offering a select range of seafront accommodation and dining options. Furthermore, with over 60 museums open to the public, Attica is one of the most attractive cultural destinations in the heart of the Mediterranean.
The event concluded with a prize draw for several stays in Attica, courtesy of the partner hotels Novotel Athens and Vincci EverEden.
Afterwards, attendees enjoyed an exclusive cocktail reception featuring Greek and Spanish produce, courtesy of Olimpo Gourmet, in a relaxed atmosphere on the terrace of the Hotel Royal Passeig de Gràcia. This provided an opportunity to strengthen ties with professionals from the tourism sector, who were able to speak personally with Ms Athina Kolyva.
With this presentation in Barcelona, the Attica region reaffirms its commitment to positioning itself as one of the most attractive and versatile Mediterranean destinations, where history, culture and Greek hospitality combine to offer an unforgettable experience.
