THE MUNICIPALITY OF SANTA EULÀRIA DES RIU IS FILLED WITH TRADITION, MUSIC AND FAMILY ACTIVITIES DURING THE JESÚS FESTIVITIES

EL MUNICIPIO DE SANTA EULÀRIA DES RIU SE LLENA DE TRADICIÓN, MÚSICA Y ACTIVIDADES EN FAMILIA CON LAS FIESTAS DE JESÚS
  • The programme will run from late August to late September, spanning a month packed with cultural, culinary, sporting and musical events for people of all ages.

At the end of August, Jesús, one of the parishes that make up the Ibizan municipality of Santa Eulària des Riu, organises its patron saint’s festivities. The village not only pays tribute to its patron saint, but also celebrates the traditions that Santa Eulària has managed to keep alive over the years, establishing itself as one of the municipalities where the most authentic essence of Ibiza remains very much alive.

The programme brings together a variety of events that combine tradition, popular culture, live music, gastronomy and family-friendly activities – one of the municipality’s key tourism focuses.

The festivities will kick off in late August with sporting activities, meals, workshops, games, the traditional grape-stomping, as well as other events designed to introduce the public to Ibiza’s cultural heritage. In addition, the great walk to s’Estanyol will be organised, a route that invites visitors to discover the parish’s natural surroundings.

The programme will continue during the first few days of September with children’s activities, musical performances, more workshops, excursions, charity events and a wide range of concerts that will transform the Plaza de Jesús into a true festival venue.

The most eagerly awaited moment will take place on 7 and 8 September, coinciding with the celebration of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, featuring High Mass presided over by the Bishop of Ibiza, the traditional procession, the peasant dance and the popular Offering of Fruit, one of the most iconic celebrations on the parish’s festival calendar. The day will culminate with a packed programme of music, including a concert by the Santa Eulària des Riu Municipal Band and several live performances to bring the festival’s main days to a close.

The festivities will draw to a close at the end of September with new cultural events for all ages, sporting events and folk performances that will put the finishing touch to several weeks of celebration in which tradition, community participation and cultural heritage will once again take centre stage.

These celebrations reflect the true identity of a town in the heart of the Mediterranean, which preserves its traditions and offers both locals and visitors the chance to discover the real Ibiza.

The Fiestas de Jesús form part of Santa Eulària des Riu’s annual programme of activities, which aims to strengthen its tourism strategy based on sustainable, family-friendly tourism that is rooted in the local heritage.
