El nuevo Mercedes-AMG GT SUV : SUV de alta tecnología con ADN de deportivo

Dynamics take shape: Modern lightweight construction concepts and intelligent vehicle design lay the foundations for compelling weight advantages in the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV. Furthermore, the vehicle consistently translates its performance into its proportions. Its deliberately low silhouette reduces the frontal area and can help minimise aerodynamic losses, without compromising the distinctive qualities of an SUV. This is made possible by an intelligent architecture featuring a flat-mounted integrated battery, ample headroom and interior space, as well as generous ground clearance.

Designed without compromise to deliver maximum performance

The SUV stands out regardless of the powertrain.

The new Mercedes-AMG GT SUV is available with two different powertrain concepts, both offering impressive performance. In the AMG GT 63 SUV, three innovative axial-flow motors deliver up to 860 kW (1,169 CV), whilst the AMG GT 55 SUV achieves up to 600 kW (816 CV). The AMG High Performance electric battery, with directly cooled cylindrical cells, ensures uniform temperature distribution and continuous power delivery even under sustained loads.

Even the entry-level variant makes a powerful statement: two powerful synchronous motors, one on the front axle and one on the rear, deliver a combined output of 400 kW (544 CV) and provide the AMG GT 53 SUV with impressive acceleration.

High-performance electric units

The motors in the AMG GT 63 and 55 SUVs are integrated into a high-performance electric unit (HP.EDU) on each axle. The rear HP.EDU combines two axial-flow motors in a single housing, each with a compact planetary input gearbox. The motors and gearboxes are oil-cooled; the control unit for the pump required for this is housed in a space-saving design. Two water-cooled silicon carbide inverters are designed for high voltages, currents and temperatures, as well as for high thermal conductivity.

The front HP.EDU comprises an axial-flow motor, a spur gearbox with an integrated parking lock and a liquid-cooled SiC inverter. The front-axle motor acts as a ‘boost motor’ and is only engaged when additional power or traction is required on that axle. A decoupling unit (DCU) disengages it in a fraction of a second under light loads to minimise drag losses, and re-engages it during acceleration and regenerative braking to deliver optimum performance.

El nuevo Mercedes-AMG GT SUV : SUV de alta tecnología con ADN de deportivo

Base version with two powerful synchronous motors on the front and rear axles

In the AMG GT 53 SUV, the front synchronous motor also acts as a boost motor: it provides additional thrust and traction when needed and is decoupled and deactivated in a fraction of a second under light loads to reduce drag losses. On the rear axle, an innovative two-speed transmission combines dynamic performance with an efficiency-oriented setup. First gear has a short ratio, enabling excellent acceleration from a standstill and promoting efficient operation in urban traffic. Second gear is designed for impressive power delivery at high speeds and at low revs on the motorway. The result is an impressive range, a high level of comfort and a relaxed driving experience, even on long journeys.

Inspired by Formula 1®, developed in Affalterbach: the AMG High Performance electric battery

The innovative high-voltage battery, with a usable capacity of 106 kWh (18 modules) or 128 kWh (22 modules), a voltage of 800 volts and directly-cooled cylindrical cells, forms the technological basis for high power stability and an impressive range of up to 700 kilometres² (22 modules).

The tall, narrow cylindrical cells (105 mm high and 26 mm in diameter) minimise the distance between the core and the surface, enabling efficient heat dissipation. The laser-welded aluminium casing is lighter than a steel one and offers excellent electrical and thermal conductivity. The cells’ full-tab design reduces internal resistance and enables maximum charge and discharge rates. The battery chemistry offers high energy density (Wh/kg), high charge rates and a long service life. The cells are housed in plastic modules. An electrically non-conductive oil circulates directly around each cylindrical cell to maintain an optimum temperature and ensure uniform cooling.

DC fast charging is possible at 800-volt charging points with a power output exceeding 700 kW, depending on the battery variant. Drivers travelling in regions with limited charging infrastructure can also charge the battery at 400 volts. The system automatically switches from 800-volt mode to 400-volt mode. The AMG GT SUV is also designed to support five fast-charging standards worldwide: CCS2 (Europe), GB/T (China), CHAdeMO (Japan), CCS1 (South Korea) and NACS (USA).

Body-in-white and battery housing: safety as the top priority

The body-in-white of the new Mercedes-AMG GT SUV is a completely new design made from aluminium, steel and fibre-reinforced composites, combining high rigidity with low weight to optimise safety and technological integration. The high-voltage battery is integrated into the centre of the vehicle structure and protected by a safety casing that forms part of the crash concept and actively absorbs forces.

Innovative cooling with the Central Coolant Hub (CCH)

In the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV, the Central Coolant Hub (CCH) is responsible for the precise cooling of all components. This highly integrated unit combines numerous elements, such as pumps, sensors and valves, within a compact housing. The CCH is designed for a variety of scenarios. Among other functions, it can ensure maximum cooling of all components at high outside temperatures and when driving under full load. It also enables individual components to be cooled specifically and efficiently. If, for example, the battery is within its optimum operating range and does not require cooling, the CCH can direct the cooling capacity specifically towards the EDUs and the Onebox. A single large cooling circuit with intelligent valves, supported by a chiller and the main and auxiliary radiators, optimises thermal efficiency and ensures that the full power of the powertrain and engines is immediately available.

Sporting excitement and supreme comfort

The new Mercedes-AMG GT SUV combines intelligent driving dynamics systems with a multi-sensory driving experience

The Mercedes-AMG GT SUV offers a precise and dynamic driving experience, underpinned by a powerful powertrain, the innovative AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL+ suspension with active roll and pitch stabilisation, active rear-axle steering and the fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system. AMG RACE ENGINEER allows you to customise the response, cornering behaviour and slip. The AMGFORCE Sport+ driving programme intensifies the AMG experience on an emotional level.

New AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL+ suspension with active pitch and roll stabilisation

The basis for the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV’s unrivalled sporty driving experience is the newly developed AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL+ suspension (standard on the AMG GT 63 SUV and optional on the AMG GT 55 SUV). It offers a unique range of capabilities, combining excellent ride comfort with impressive sporting precision, enabling an exceptional balance between relaxed and highly dynamic driving. The three-stage adjustable air springs, an integrated 8.2-litre pressure reservoir and the hydraulic interconnection of the shock absorbers allow the vehicle height to be adjusted almost in real time, including speed-dependent lowering to reduce aerodynamic drag.

Instead of conventional anti-roll bars, active hydraulic elements control pitch and roll movements quickly, precisely and effectively. A central pump with regulated valves provides the appropriate pressure and ensures the desired roll support and stiffness according to the selected driving programme. The result is precise lateral guidance when cornering and maximum comfort even when only one side of the road surface is uneven. The system also proves its effectiveness when braking and accelerating: it reduces nose dive during braking and nose lift during acceleration.

In addition to the hydraulic components, the new AMG GT SUV features air springs adjustable to three levels to enhance comfort and reduce body movements during lateral and longitudinal acceleration.

The suspension features a multi-link design at both the front and rear. This configuration allows for high lateral acceleration with minimal influence from the powertrain. The high camber and toe stiffness ensure precise road contact even at the limit and stable handling both during load changes and in response to external influences, such as crosswinds or road undulations. To reduce unsprung masses, the suspension arms, steering knuckles and wheel carriers on the front axle are made from forged aluminium.

El nuevo Mercedes-AMG GT SUV : SUV de alta tecnología con ADN de deportivo

Even more agile and stable thanks to active rear-axle steering

The standard active rear-axle steering, with a steering angle of up to 6 degrees, combines seemingly contradictory driving characteristics: below 80 km/h, the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the front wheels, which effectively shortens the wheelbase and significantly improves agility in corners and manoeuvrability in everyday use. Above 80 km/h, the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the front wheels (up to 1 degree), which effectively lengthens the wheelbase and noticeably improves driving stability.

The braking system on the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV is configured to match each engine variant: the AMG GT 53 SUV is fitted with steel brakes on both the front and rear axles. The AMG GT 55 SUV also features steel brakes as standard; a high-performance ceramic braking system is available as an option on both axles. The top-of-the-range AMG GT 63 SUV comes with high-performance ceramic brakes on both the front and rear axles as standard.

AMGFORCE Sport+: a driving programme with maximum intensity

AMGFORCE Sport+ faithfully reproduces the sound of the AMG V8 engines (AMG GT 63 and 55 SUV) and the AMG six-cylinder engines (AMG GT 53 SUV). The original engine sounds were meticulously documented – rather than being synthetically generated – based on more than 100 measurements taken using 16 microphones and reference vehicles such as the Mercedes-AMG GT R. The sound reproduction is dynamic and adapts in real time to the driving style, including acceleration and gear changes.

The driving programme offers much more than just sound: it simulates gear changes similar to those of an AMG SPEEDSHIFT transmission, allows manual gear changes via the steering wheel paddles, and includes a driver-specific display and seat-integrated vibrators to create an immersive experience.

In addition to driving dynamics, the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV offers other sound features for the cabin, such as specific sounds when approaching, unlocking, locking and charging the vehicle. Future modes such as Launch Control, Boost and Showtime will round off the acoustic experience. Using a sound control, customers can customise the engine sound and other sound profiles to their liking, with modes such as ‘Powerful’, ‘Balanced’ and ‘Silent’, as well as a scale ranging from ‘Classic’ to ‘Futuristic’.

Tailored driving pleasure with AMG RACE ENGINEER: more intense, more direct and more personal

AMG RACE ENGINEER, featured in the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 and 55 SUVs, connects all the software and hardware components of the powertrain and driving dynamics systems. It comprises two elements: AMG RACE ENGINEER Core, a high-performance chip that controls the powertrain, brakes and energy recovery, and the AMG RACE ENGINEER Control Unit, three rotary controls on the centre console that allow the vehicle’s response, cornering behaviour and slip to be individually adjusted:

‘Response Control’ regulates the response of the electric motors to accelerator inputs, with a continuous adjustment from comfortable to direct, to optimise power delivery, agility and traction.

‘Agility Control’ influences agility around the vertical axis and cornering behaviour (only in RACE/AMGFORCE Sport+/Sport modes with ESP® deactivated) via variable torque distribution, enabling a spectrum ranging from understeer to controlled oversteer.

‘Traction Control’ adjusts the intervention of the traction control system across nine levels (only in RACE/AMGFORCE Sport+/Sport driving modes with ESP® deactivated).

AMG Performance 4MATIC+: fully variable and intelligent all-wheel drive

The AMG GT SUV’s drive concepts ensure maximum flexibility in torque distribution between the front and rear axles: the AMG GT 63 and 55 SUV models feature three independent axial-flow motors, whilst the AMG GT 53 SUV incorporates two synchronous motors. Furthermore, in the AMG GT 63 and 55 SUVs, selective torque vectoring allows the drive force to be variably distributed between the rear wheels. The result is a newly developed, fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system. It not only offers a high level of driving safety but also great driving pleasure. The drive torque is regulated continuously and according to the driving situation.

The transition between rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive – and vice versa – is imperceptible to the driver and is based on a sophisticated matrix that integrates all control algorithms into the vehicle’s overall architecture. To optimise traction and stability on snow and ice, sensors detect wheel slip in a fraction of a second and precisely adjust the torque distribution to the driving situation. In the AMG GT 53 SUV, the front synchronous motor is also automatically engaged via a decoupling unit (DCU) when traction is required.

Distinctive design and active aerodynamics

Powerful design language, active aerodynamics and a driver-oriented cockpit

The silhouette alone makes it unmistakably clear: the new Mercedes-AMG GT SUV is a pure high-performance SUV. It is characterised by a raked front end, a long wheelbase, wide track, powerful shoulders and a low, sporty roofline that slopes down towards the rear spoiler.

Athletic presence

The raked windscreen, elongated roofline and powerful wheel arches give the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV an athletic appearance even when stationary. The carefully defined height of the waistline combines excellent all-round visibility with superb ergonomics and a sporty driving position. The compact exterior mirrors, the frameless side windows in true GT style and the dynamic trim elements that extend to the rear side windows further enhance its distinctive character. At the same time, the easy access emphasises the everyday practicality expected of a large SUV. The bonnet bulges, flared wings, large wheels, short overhangs and pronounced rear shoulders make the vehicle’s high-performance DNA immediately recognisable: precise, powerful and unmistakably AMG.

The imposing silhouette of the GT SUV is complemented by a front and rear design featuring a captivating lighting signature: the AMG-specific grille, comprising a frame and metallic vertical slats, can be optionally illuminated. The Mercedes-Benz star in the centre – also available with optional illumination – the main headlamps with star-shaped daytime running lights, the six circular rear lights with a turbine-inspired design and the optional rear light strip create an unmistakable identity.

The active AEROKINETICS elements improve handling stability

The aerodynamic design consistently reflects the aim of combining high handling stability, lower aerodynamic drag and high performance.

The active AEROKINETICS roof spoiler on the AMG GT 63 and 55 SUVs blends into the silhouette at low speeds. From 150 km/h, it automatically adjusts its position to reduce aerodynamic drag or increase stability, depending on the driving situation. During dynamic driving, it adopts its steepest angle to provide high traction and optimum aerodynamic balance. Its intelligent operating strategy takes into account speed, acceleration, driving dynamics and the position of the AEROKINETICS air panel.

The AEROKINETICS Airpanel active airflow control system regulates cooling airflow via vertical slats in the front bumper. These normally remain closed to minimise aerodynamic drag and reduce downforce on the front axle.

They only open when necessary, once certain temperature thresholds are reached and there is a high demand for cooling air.

The interior: a driver-oriented cockpit designed for comfort

The interior of the AMG GT SUV consistently translates the DNA of the AMG GT cockpit into an SUV format. The driver sits low and integrated into the vehicle, in a sporty and precise position, rather than the classic SUV seating position. The cockpit is clearly driver-oriented, with intuitive controls, a 14.0-inch multimedia screen angled towards the driver and a 10.2-inch instrument cluster that visually form a single unit. A separate 14-inch screen is provided for the front passenger.

The centre console features an ergonomic design and, in the AMG GT 63 and 55 SUVs, houses the AMG RACE ENGINEER Control Unit, with three rotary controls for individually adjusting response, cornering behaviour and slip. With its contoured design and integrated buttons, the AMG Performance steering wheel allows quick access to driving functions and precise control of energy recovery via the paddles.

The seats offer excellent lateral support and comfort on long journeys; AMG Performance seats with integrated headrests are available as an option. A wide range of upholstery options and material concepts allows for individual customisation. The door trim features an elegant design with floating armrests, integrated functions in the grab handle and diamond-pattern stitching. The seat adjustment controls are ergonomically positioned and the speaker grilles are harmoniously integrated; a Burmester 4D sound system with stainless steel elements is available as an option.

Despite its sporty silhouette, the rear seats offer generous headroom and legroom, as well as a comfortable seating position, making the AMG GT SUV an ideal vehicle for long journeys. A three-seater bench is fitted as standard; the rear seatbacks can be folded down and the headrests can be folded back electrically.

The full-surface ‘SKY CONTROL’ panoramic glass roof brings the outside world into the cabin; it can switch between transparent and opaque modes and, as an option, offers spectacular AMG lighting effects at night. It is designed to provide thermal insulation. Ambient lighting creates a pleasant atmosphere through a continuous light strip and harmoniously coordinated effects, which can be personalised using high-resolution ambient styles on the displays.

The colour scheme of the instrument cluster, controls and ambient lighting is perfectly coordinated. This allows occupants to create a fully personalised atmosphere inside the cabin. The design of the displays stands out for its exceptional aesthetics, precision and intuitive operation.

With over 60 exclusive MANUFAKTUR paint finishes, the new Mercedes-AMG GT SUV offers a wide range of exterior colours. For the first time, AMG forged wheels can also be enhanced with colour accents. In addition to matt vanadium silver and matt copper, matt black versions are available with wheel rims accented in Angel Blue, Sunny Lime or Orange Flame. These options impressively emphasise the high-performance SUV’s striking presence. MANUFAKTUR seatbelts in Fjord Blue, Green Hell or Orange Flame bring these bold accent colours into the interior for the first time.

Thanks to the wide range of personalisation options, every AMG GT SUV can be transformed into a unique and unmistakable vehicle.

A unique digital experience for even greater personalisation and performance

AI and exclusive AMG apps transform the cockpit into a customisable command centre.

The new Mercedes-AMG GT SUV sets new standards in the digital experience thanks to a connected software architecture, intelligent operating logic and the use of AI, combining technology and emotion.

In this way, the driver-oriented cockpit becomes a customisable command centre. The new generation of MBUX, based on the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), offers intuitive and emotive operation and controls all vehicle functions. It includes various display styles, including ‘Classic’ and ‘AMG Special’, with specific sub-screens in the central dial design (power gauge/rev counter), ‘Pure’ (simplified speedometer), ‘Vehicle Data’ (temperatures and tyre data) and ‘Trip’ (navigation and journey information).

The MBUX operating concept focuses on the essentials: the Zero Layer displays key information, context-sensitive suggestions and recently used apps, all of which can be personalised just like on a smartphone. Connectivity services such as Live Traffic Information are integrated. A unique feature is the integration of three AI agents (ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing and Google Gemini) into MBUX. The MBUX virtual assistant can sustain complex, multi-step dialogues. This is complemented by three exclusive AMG apps: ‘AMG PERFORMANCE MENU’, ‘AMG SET UP’ and ‘AMG TRACK PACE’, which emphasise the vehicle’s high-performance character.

El nuevo Mercedes-AMG GT SUV : SUV de alta tecnología con ADN de deportivo

AMG PERFORMANCE MENU: real-time driving data

AMG PERFORMANCE MENU provides real-time driving and powertrain data. ‘Energy Flow’ visualises the energy flow and power delivery to the front and rear axles. ‘Aero Flow’ displays the status of the active aerodynamics. ‘Warm up’ provides information on optimum operating temperatures and tyre temperatures. An ‘IWC Watch’ acts as a stopwatch for lap times. ‘Dynamic’ displays physical forces such as lateral acceleration, tyre pressure and suspension status. ‘Power’ allows you to monitor the status of the powertrain and the available electric power.

AMG SET-UP: every journey individually configured

With AMG SET-UP, the driver can actively adjust various functions and configure the vehicle entirely according to their individual preferences, to enjoy a perfectly tailored driving experience.

With ‘Steering Wheel’, it is possible to customise various functions and driving programmes to suit personal preferences using the buttons on the steering wheel. This allows for even more intuitive operation and quicker access to the most important functions. The ‘Aero Set-up’ menu offers additional control over aerodynamics.

El nuevo Mercedes-AMG GT SUV : SUV de alta tecnología con ADN de deportivo

AMG TRACK PACE for track days

AMG TRACK PACE transforms track days in the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV into professional training sessions. The software records more than 80 vehicle-specific data points ten times per second and displays telemetry, acceleration and lap data on the driver’s screen. Lap and sector times are clearly shown on the multimedia screen, the head-up display and the instrument cluster. Numerous circuits are pre-installed, and it is also possible to record your own laps. The intelligent race navigation on the head-up display shows corner angles and braking points to help you follow the ideal line. The augmented reality function superimposes the line from a saved recording to help improve lap times. Acceleration and deceleration values can be precisely measured and saved. Optionally, a dashcam — not available in all markets — allows HD videos to be recorded onto USB devices with integrated overlays, such as lap times, a mini-map and vehicle data (speed, acceleration, steering angle and brake application).

Smart racing with the Predictive Performance Manager

The Predictive Performance Manager (PPM), used for the first time during the CONCEPT AMG GT XX’s record-breaking lap, plays a decisive role in achieving optimum lap times on the circuit. The tool optimises power delivery according to the selected mode, ‘RACE’ or ‘SPRINT’. It does so section by section and depending on the situation, directly within the operating strategy. On long circuits or when completing many laps on Grand Prix circuits, constantly demanding maximum power is not the best way to achieve the fastest lap times. On the Nürburgring Nordschleife, for example, a sophisticated strategy is essential due to its demanding topography. On downhill sections and in tight, linked corners, power has little impact on lap times, so thermal and electrical energy can be conserved to be used to the full on uphill sections or long straights. Consequently, the PPM reduces or increases power delivery as appropriate for each section of the circuit.

From comfort to maximum dynamism: seven driving programmes

The range of seven AMG DYNAMIC SELECT driving programmes offers another attraction for both those seeking thrills on the track and those who prefer a more comfort-oriented experience: ‘Comfort’, ‘Sport’, ‘AMGFORCE Sport+’, ‘RACE’, ‘Slippery’, ‘Individual’ and ‘Eco’ cover a broad spectrum of characteristics, ranging from a comfortable and efficient drive to a dynamic and highly exhilarating one.

Comfort: a comfortable and harmonious driving experience, with a balanced set-up, an efficient operating strategy — rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive — understeering behaviour and pleasant suspension comfort.

Sport: typical AMG driving dynamics for the road, with high performance, permanent all-wheel drive, direct response and a firm suspension set-up

AMGFORCE Sport+: delivers maximum excitement through a perfect simulation of a combustion engine.

RACE: an uncompromising track mode, with reduced driver assistance systems, permanent all-wheel drive, spontaneous response, firm suspension and a lower ride height. Includes Drift Mode, Drag Race, Track Race and Launch Control.

El nuevo Mercedes-AMG GT SUV : SUV de alta tecnología con ADN de deportivo

Slippery: a stable setting designed to provide maximum traction on low-grip surfaces — rain, snow or ice — with early ESP intervention, permanent all-wheel drive and a soft suspension setup.

Eco: prioritises efficient driving by disengaging the front axle when not required, optimising aerodynamics and adjusting power, torque and top speed.

Individual: allows you to customise all parameters.

Furthermore, by pressing both steering wheel paddles once, additional power boost is available in the C, S and S+ driving programmes. This results in even more noticeable performance and driving excitement: the vehicle delivers more torque and power, and the accelerator pedal responds more spontaneously. At the same time, all occupants feel a surge of acceleration and the seatbelts are tightened. Specific sounds for activation, operation and deactivation provide the acoustic accompaniment to the experience.

Manufactured at one of the most historic vehicle plants: the Sindelfingen complex becomes the production centre

The new SUV is assembled in Hall 32. This assembly hall has been specifically adapted to the requirements of AMG.EA technology. Key body components are also manufactured at the plant, including stamped parts, the body-in-white and paintwork. The Mercedes-Benz site in Sindelfingen was founded in 1915 and, with its 111-year history, is one of the Mercedes-Benz Group AG’s most traditional vehicle production plants.
