New York Burger isn’t closing for the holidays… and to make the remaining afternoons of August – and until 15 September – a little more enjoyable in Madrid, it has just launched its Golden Hour.
As well as enjoying its famous burgers – which have been a hit in the capital since 2009 – from Monday to Friday, 5.00 pm to 8.00 pm, for every fourth 330 ml beer, customers are treated to half a portion of a snack, with a choice of: Wings (chicken wings with Korean batter, glazed with sweet-and-sour sauce and sesame seeds), Panko Onion Rings (onion rings coated in panko, served with a creamy roasted chilli sauce and homemade smoked beetroot BBQ sauce) or Mozzarella Sticks (mozzarella sticks coated in beer batter, served with marinara sauce and grated Parmesan at the table).
As the kitchen runs non-stop, you can round off your snack by tucking into one of their burgers. There are nine beef options (from €12.95, with side dishes from €1.95), and to make your choice easier, here are a few pointers: the best-selling Nolita – grilled beef with crispy bacon marinated in Bourbon sauce, melted Cheddar, caramelised onions cooked over the grill and a meat sauce; the ever-popular Queen, a staple since the family-run business first opened its doors, features grilled beef with cheddar, crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, red onion and gherkins. Balanced, straightforward, timeless… Another recipe that’s always a hit is the Empire State, perfect for appreciating both its ‘slow-cooked’ and ‘properly grilled’ styles, as, alongside the grilled beef with cheddar, it features pulled pork smoked for over 7 hours in their exclusive Texan oven, drizzled with BBQ sauce and NYB sauce.
New York Burger has eight restaurants in Madrid and is open from 13:00 to 22:45, seven days a week. I’ve attached pictures of some of the appetisers (photo shows a full portion; the promotion includes half a portion), the Nolita burger and their Caleido branch, which has a lovely terrace.
