OMAN CONSOLIDATES ITS APPEAL AMONG SPANISH TRAVELLERS

  • With more than 10,700 Spanish tourists from January to November 2025, the Spanish market has established itself as one of the European markets with the greatest potential for Oman.

  • Since the opening of Oman’s representative office in Spain last July, Spanish tourism has increased by 23% up to November.

  • Experiential and nature tourism is gaining ground, positioning Oman as a distinctive long-haul alternative for Spanish travellers.

Oman continues to consolidate its position as one of the international destinations that is becoming increasingly attractive to Spanish travellers. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism of the Sultanate of Oman, more than 10,700 Spanish tourists visited the country between January and November 2025. With December’s figures still to come in, since the opening of the representative office in Spain last July, the data shows a 23% increase compared to the same period in 2024*.

This positive trend reflects Oman’s current popularity in Spain, driven by a combination of authenticity and tradition, a clear commitment to sustainability and a distinctive positioning within the Middle East, away from mass tourism and focused on cultural and natural experiences.

In addition, the profile of Spanish travellers arriving in the country is increasingly varied, combining cultural tourism, nature, adventure and premium experiences. From the wadis and deserts of the interior to the Indian Ocean coast and the historical heritage of Muscat and Nizwa, Oman is responding to a growing demand for authentic, sustainable travel away from mass tourism.

The evolution of the Spanish market in Oman reflects the fact that interest in the destination is not only continuing but also diversifying. The busiest months are traditionally concentrated in autumn and winter, especially November, reinforcing Oman’s position as an ideal destination to escape the European cold.

‘Today’s Spanish travellers are looking for safe, cultural destinations with their own identity, and Oman fits that demand perfectly,’ according to the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism of the Sultanate of Oman, which is strengthening its commitment to the Spanish market in 2026 with new promotional activities and collaboration with the tourism sector. Among other new proposals, in 2026 work will be done to promote southern Oman, the Dhofar region and more specifically Salalah, in the months of June to September, with average temperatures of 25º, idyllic beaches, festivals and unique events.
