OSLO PREPARES TO WELCOME BLAUGRANA SUPPORTERS FOR THE WOMEN’S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL

Oslo se prepara para recibir a la afición blaugrana en la final de LA Women’s Champions League
  • For the fourth time in history, FC Barcelona and OL Lyon will face each other in the UEFA Women’s Champions League final, which will be held in Oslo on 23 May.

According to data from Kiwi.com, a leading travel technology company, searches for flights from Spain to the Norwegian capital skyrocketed following Barça’s qualification for the final, reflecting the enthusiasm of Barça fans to accompany their team to one of the most important events in European women’s football.

Search data for travel between 21 and 23 May shows a very significant increase from 3 May onwards. On that day, the daily search volume was approximately 7.5 times higher than the daily average recorded between 1 April and 2 May. Interest remained high on 4 May, more than five times above the usual average.

In addition to search queries, confirmed bookings also reflect this surge in interest among Barça fans. On Sunday 3 May, there was a peak in bookings from Spain to Oslo’s airports (OSL and TRF), with a 420% increase compared to the previous Sunday. On Monday 4 May, however, bookings returned to near-normal levels, suggesting that some fans are still weighing up their options before confirming their trip.

“We are seeing how blaugrana fans have reacted quickly to the team’s qualification for the final. Oslo has immediately become one of the most searched-for destinations from Spain for the end of May,” says Daniela Chovancová, PR Manager at Kiwi.com.

As for prices, current average fares for travel from 27 Spanish airports to Oslo between 21 and 23 May stand at €283, €324 and €292 respectively during the period analysed.

Given that 22 May will be the most expensive day to fly — as is usually the case on Fridays — the data suggests that bringing your departure forward by a day could help you save on the ticket price and, at the same time, enjoy more time in the Norwegian capital before cheering on your team in the grand final.

Oslo boasts numerous attractions, including the Opera House, one of the city’s great landmarks, with stunning views of the fjord; Grunerlokka, the city’s most alternative and creative neighbourhood; and Vigeland Park, an open-air museum featuring over 200 sculptures in bronze, granite and wrought iron, the most famous of which is ‘The Angry Boy’.
