What many Panamanians have awaited for years—particularly those working in the tourism sector—has finally arrived. Panama’s Nation Brand fills a longstanding gap in the country’s tourism, business, and cultural promotion abroad through a concept that embraces the multicultural identity of the isthmus—an intrinsic part of its history and DNA: Panama, Host to the World.
Backed by an investment of approximately $6 million, according to Panama Tourism Authority Administrator Gloria De León, the brand is the result of more than a year of analysis, market research, benchmarking, surveys, and interviews conducted both nationally and internationally. The Panama Tourism Authority (ATP), together with the Panama Tourism Promotion Fund (PROMTUR), unveiled a brand designed to “stand the test of time” and position Panama as a host to the world—a country that embraces its responsibility to welcome everyone with open arms.
Unveiled during a ceremony at the Amador Convention Center, attended by some of the country’s most prominent figures from a wide range of sectors, “Panama, Host to the World” is a national positioning platform that brings together tourism, investment, exports, culture, and sustainability.
The brand is built around five pillars that provide a comprehensive framework for promoting Panama and positioning the country as a unified whole on the global stage. “This demonstrates once again that, when we unite around a common purpose, we are capable of achieving great things,” said Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino in a message presented to the audience.
“This Nation Brand does not belong to any one administration; it belongs to Panama and to all Panamanians. We must therefore keep it free from political interests and ensure that it outlasts those of us who may temporarily bear the responsibility of governing,” he added. To that end, Panama’s promotional strategy will be submitted to the National Assembly for consideration, with the aim of establishing it as a law of the Republic.
Panama is the host: an open country where worlds, cultures, and people converge. The initiative seeks to ensure that everything and everyone Panama welcomes finds the right conditions to grow and prosper.
The new logo embodies this story. Its lines evoke openness and intersecting paths. Blue represents Panama’s oceans and its role as a global meeting point, while red symbolizes the energy and human spirit of the Panamanian people. The curves of the two letter “A”s represent the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans at either end, with Panama at the center as the point that unites them.
As part of the brand’s continued development, work is also underway to establish a governance structure responsible for managing, protecting, and developing this asset. This will include guidelines for its use, licensing mechanisms, and a brand ambassador program.
With its new Nation Brand, Panama will no longer compete solely as a destination, but as part of a broader national proposition supported by stability, connectivity, and infrastructure. The tourism brand gains greater reach without losing its identity.
Following the brand’s official unveiling, all of Panama’s tourism communications will now be developed within the framework of “Panama, Host to the World,” providing the sector with broader and stronger institutional support.
