  • The Picasso Málaga Museum will be open daily over the August bank holiday weekend and throughout the Málaga Feria, to make it easier for locals and visitors alike to visit throughout the festival.

  • The current exhibition of the collection, ‘Picasso: Structures of Invention. The Unity of a Work, and the temporary exhibition Joana Vasconcelos: Transfiguration make up the exhibition programme for this period.

To mark the Málaga Fair, the Picasso Museum Málaga will be open every day of the festival, offering a cultural alternative both to those visiting the city during these festive days and to the people of Málaga themselves who wish to visit the museum. Thus, from 15 to 23 August, the museum will remain open during its usual summer opening hours, from 10.00 to 20.00, with tickets on sale until 19.30. This will allow the public to enjoy the museum’s exhibition programme throughout the entire festive week.

During these festive days, visitors can explore the galleries of the Palacio de Buenavista, which are hosting ‘Pablo Picasso: Structures of Invention’. The Unity of a Work, which displays around 150 works that, taken together, reveal the personality of Pablo Picasso (1881–1973) and his extraordinary ability to create the innovative structures that made him one of the most influential artists of the modern era. In addition, the exhibition *Joana Vasconcelos: Transfiguration* is currently open to the public. It offers a comprehensive overview of the career of one of the most distinctive European artists on the contemporary scene, bringing together 13 sculptures and installations that allow the viewer to experience how the meaning of objects can be shifted without erasing their memory. The exhibition brings together sculptures and installations created from the late 1990s to the present day, allowing visitors to observe how Vasconcelos’s artistic practice revolves around a single fundamental process: the ability to transform everyday objects, symbols and materials into visual and spatial experiences capable of altering our perception of the world.

Since its inception, the Museo Picasso Málaga has worked to bring Pablo Picasso’s life and artistic output closer to the public through the conservation of his legacy, the organisation of exhibitions and the development of cultural and educational activities.

The museum also operates a policy of free admission and reduced rates for various groups. Admission is free for people with a recognised disability, unemployed people registered with the SEPE, children under 16, students at the University of Málaga with a valid student card, accredited teaching staff and members of ICOM, amongst others. Furthermore, admission is free for all visitors on Sundays during the last two hours of opening.
