- Last week, Madrid hosted the presentation of the Mexican destinations of Mazatlán and Los Mochis under the slogan ‘From the sea to the mountains’, two cities that showcase the tourist diversity of the state of Sinaloa.
- These cities stand out for their combination of culture, nature and gastronomy, attracting travellers who want to discover a lesser-known Mexico.
The event was attended by Mireya Sosa Osuna, Secretary of Tourism for the State of Sinaloa; Michelle Aguilar, Deputy Secretary of Tourism; and Alejandra Osuna, Director of Tourism Promotion, who shared with professionals from the tourism sector and the media the main strengths of the destination and its growing appeal to the European market.
During the presentation, Mazatlán was highlighted as one of the most complete destinations on the Mexican Pacific coast. Nicknamed “The Pearl of the Pacific”, the city is distinguished by an attractive combination of urban and natural beaches, ideal for both relaxation and water sports such as surfing or paddle surfing. In addition, its iconic boardwalk, one of the longest in the world, invites visitors to explore the city on foot or by bicycle, while enjoying ocean views, sculptures and a lively local scene.
Mazatlán also stands out for its rich historical and cultural heritage, especially in its historic centre, where restored buildings, theatres, museums and squares coexist with a busy cultural agenda. Added to this is a powerful gastronomic offering, renowned for its seafood, traditional markets and a culinary scene that blends tradition and innovation. The city also has an extensive calendar of events, including its famous carnival, considered one of the most important and oldest in Latin America.
For its part, Los Mochis presented itself as a modern, organised and hospitable city, which serves as a strategic point for exploring northern Sinaloa and its spectacular natural surroundings. Surrounded by agricultural landscapes, coastal areas and nature reserves, the city is ideal for those seeking experiences linked to nature, adventure and active tourism, as well as contact with local life and the traditions of the region.
The iconic Chepe train, one of Mexico’s most renowned railway experiences, departs from Los Mochis, crossing the impressive Copper Canyon and connecting travellers with indigenous communities, natural viewpoints and landscapes of great scenic value. This route has stood out as one of the great experiences in the north of the country for those seeking trips with a strong cultural and natural component.
The representatives of Sinaloa Tourism highlighted the complementarity between Mazatlán and Los Mochis, which allows for the design of varied itineraries combining coast, city, heritage, gastronomy and nature in a single trip. They also highlighted the connectivity, the quality of tourist services and the destination’s commitment to sustainable, responsible and authentic tourism, in line with the new demands of international travellers.
The presentation concluded with a gastronomic event in which attendees were able to discover a selection of flavours representative of Sinaloa’s cuisine, reinforcing the destination’s identity through its culinary culture.
