- The ski and mountain resorts of the Girona Pyrenees are kicking off the 2025-2026 season with improvements to the slopes, innovation systems and the digitalisation of services.
- Energy management and efficiency have also been improved to advance sustainability, and new leisure areas have been created—such as the Mirador del Llac de Vall de Núria viewpoint and the Niu de l’Àliga refuge in La Molina—in addition to a wider range of quality cuisine to enhance and enrich the visitor experience.
- The Girona Pyrenees improved its tourist occupancy figures during the 2025 season. From January to October, it received 838,000 visitors, who generated 1.9 million overnight stays, 3% more than in the same period in 2024.
Yesterday, the Vallter ski and mountain resort in Ripollès hosted the presentation of the 2025-2026 winter season in the Girona Pyrenees, organised by the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board of the Girona Provincial Council. The event was attended by around forty tourism professionals from the Ripollès and Cerdanya regions and members of the media.
The event was attended by the mayor of Setcases, Francesc Marcer; the deputy for Xarxa Viària of the Provincial Council of Girona and mayor of Ger, Alfons Casamajó; the delegate of the Government of Catalonia in Girona, Xavier Guitart; and representatives from the resorts of La Molina, Vallter, Vall de Núria, Masella, and Guils Fontanera.
The day included a review of tourism activity for the year and the presentation of a series of promotional activities planned to boost tourism in the area. Finally, the latest news from the ski resorts for this season was announced.
Provisional data on tourist occupancy in the Girona Pyrenees during the 2025 season has been positive, reversing the unfavourable trend of the last three years. From January to October 2025, the counties that make up the Pirineu de Girona brand (Cerdanya, Ripollès and Garrotxa) received 837,273 visitors, who generated 1,861,363 overnight stays, nearly 3% more than in the same period in 2024, according to data from the Eurecat Tourism Observatory. The destination has almost 20,000 regulated accommodation places and maintains an average stay of 2.12 nights. By market, Catalan, Spanish and French visitors continue to be the main visitors to the area.
Specifically, with regard to the 2024-2025 ski season, the Girona resorts closed with around 785,104 users, thus recovering visitor numbers and significantly improving on the previous season’s results.
At the beginning of December, the state of reservations and occupancy forecasts in regulated accommodation establishments were positive. In Ripollès, hotels, regulated tourist apartments, rural tourism houses and campsites that remain open are forecasting 80% occupancy for the Purísima long weekend and 65% for the Christmas holidays. In Cerdanya, reservations for 6, 7 and 8 December stand at 90%, while for the period from 26 to 31 December they are between 80% and 95%. Hotels and restaurants are expected to operate normally and at a good pace.
This winter season, the five ski and mountain resorts in Girona offer a ski area with 206 km of slopes, a total of 156 slopes of different levels, 48 ski lifts, 20 circuits covering 45 km of cross-country skiing trails, snowpark and freeride areas, night skiing on 13 slopes and areas for sledging, among other activities.
The resorts have carried out actions and investments to improve their facilities and ensure a better user experience, with measures including maintenance of slopes, ski lifts and snow cannons; renewal of rental equipment, windbreaks and safety equipment; implementation of energy saving and waste management measures; and awareness-raising campaigns to promote respect for the natural environment.
It is worth highlighting the new Pirineu365 brand, created by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat, which brings together the group’s six mountain resorts to promote the diversity of activities they offer throughout the year, with the aim of deseasonalising demand. The FlexiPass, Pirineu365’s new pay-per-use support, is also being launched, together with a new single web portal and a multi-destination mobile app that will offer real-time information (slope conditions, weather and webcams) to facilitate planning and purchasing for users.
On Wednesday, 26 November, Masella inaugurated the 2025-2026 snow season and became the first ski resort to open in the Pyrenees and Spain, followed by La Molina, which began its season on Saturday, 29 November. Yesterday, 4 December, Vallter and Vall de Núria opened their doors.

Vallter
- Commemoration of the resort’s 50th anniversary with a special programme of activities: a historical tour of the last 50 years; a guided tour of iconic locations that brings Vallter’s past to life; torchlight descent and the podcast ‘Les veus dels 50 anys de Vallter’ (The voices of Vallter’s 50 years), a series of conversations with key figures in the resort’s history to reflect on its evolution and future.
- New access and regulation system for car parks P1 and P3 to optimise mobility and improve visitor entry and exit.
- Expansion of the gastronomic offering with GastroVallter (Braseria Les Marmotes and Cafeteria La Portella) and the GastroMarmotes experience, sunset snowcat rides that include snacks and dinners at an altitude of 2,535 metres.
- Reviu pilot project for the recovery and regeneration of plastic and thermoplastic waste.
Vall de Núria
- Mirador del Llac, a new panoramic viewpoint in the valley, accessible only to skiers and users of the new exclusive snowshoe route.
- A range of locally sourced cuisine at the Racó de la Vall restaurant.
- New role of ‘itinerant informant’ to promote the preservation and dissemination of natural capital among visitors to the valley.
- Calendar of events for the whole family during Christmas.
- Project Gasoil Zero-Ecovall to completely eliminate the use of fossil fuels.
La Molina
- Renovation of the Niu de l’Àliga refuge, located at an altitude of 2,537 metres. New outdoor terrace area connected to the Cadí-Moixeró cable car and an innovative greenhouse. Space adapted for people with reduced mobility and open to everyone: skiers, hikers and visitors.
- Improvement of the snow production system.
- Calendar of events: Catalan Championship for people with functional diversity (ACELL Federation) and Spanish Championships (SL/GS/SG).
- Revegetation with sowing to optimise snow.
Masella
- Increase of 30% in snow production, with a more efficient network and the renovation of the main machine room, which allows for energy savings of up to 25%.
- Purchase and top up ski passes online, more economically and quickly.
- Renovation of the Cap del Bosc bar, a refuge located at an altitude of 2,150 m.
- Night skiing with 10 km and 13 slopes.
Guils Fontanera
- New toboggan run.
- Purchase your integrated ski pass online.

- New adapted parking area and installation of charging points for electric vehicles.
