New travel kits, PressReader on board, the ‘Skip Meal’ option and a partnership with LUGGit expand the range of services available to passengers.
TAP Air Portugal is introducing new services designed to further personalise the travel experience and cater to passengers’ diverse needs, from comfort and relaxation to access to digital content. The airline now offers new travel kits on long-haul flights, free access to PressReader via the on-board Wi-Fi portal and the ‘Skip Meal’ option, which allows customers to indicate in advance that they would prefer to skip their in-flight meal, as well as a new luggage collection, storage and delivery service thanks to a partnership with LUGGit.
TAP’s new travel kits are now available to passengers travelling in Business and Economy Prime on the airline’s long-haul flights. Dubbed “The Blaze”, the new collection features a revamped design, new content and a stronger focus on sustainability and Portuguese identity.
Available in a range of colour combinations inspired by Portugal, the new kits are made from recycled materials and draw inspiration from Portuguese craftsmanship, combining functionality and elegance whilst reflecting both the TAP brand identity and Portuguese hospitality.
The revamp of the travel kits also includes the addition of new products from Portuguese companies. Among the new items are socks from PEDEMEIA, a Portuguese family-run business specialising in textile production, and wellness and personal care products from 8950, a brand inspired by the landscapes and scents of the Algarve. The new collection also incorporates recycled materials in several of its components, from the toiletry bag itself to the inner lining, as well as accessories made from sustainably sourced materials, such as the bamboo toothbrush and kraft paper packaging.
TAP also offers its customers PressReader, a digital library of newspapers and magazines available on board the Airbus A330-900 and Airbus A321LR aircraft. This new service allows passengers to access a selection of national and international newspapers and magazines free of charge via the aircraft’s Wi-Fi portal, without the need to purchase an internet package. The catalogue includes content on current affairs, economics, travel, technology, sport, lifestyle and entertainment, with publications from various countries such as Spain, Portugal, Brazil and the United States, amongst others.
To access this service, passengers simply need to connect their device to the aircraft’s Wi-Fi network, access TAP’s in-flight entertainment system and select the section dedicated to PressReader, where they can browse the available publications. PressReader complements the service already available in TAP’s VIP lounges in Lisbon and Paris and represents a further step towards enhancing passengers’ digital experience during their journey.
TAP is also introducing the ‘Skip Meal’ option on long-haul flights for passengers who wish to prioritise rest during the journey. The request can be made via the airline’s website, using the ‘Manage booking’ option, or via the TAP app, in the ‘Choose meal’ section, thus allowing customers to indicate in advance that they do not wish to receive the in-flight meal service.
This preference is recorded in the airline’s systems and communicated to the cabin crew before the flight, enabling them to identify passengers who have chosen not to be woken up during the meal service. This feature aims to meet the needs of customers who particularly value rest on long-haul flights, whilst helping to provide a more personalised service and reduce food waste.
Furthermore, TAP’s new partnership with LUGGit offers a solution that allows its customers to travel in greater comfort. The service, now available to passengers travelling via the airports of Lisbon, Porto, Madrid, Barcelona and Athens, enables passengers to request the collection, storage and delivery of their luggage, both at the point of departure and at their destination, with collection or delivery available at the airport, a hotel, their home or any other location chosen by the customer. This means passengers can explore the city without having to carry their luggage for part of their journey.
The new services and products available reflect TAP’s commitment to a travel experience that is increasingly tailored to its passengers’ preferences and habits, through solutions that combine comfort, entertainment, personalisation and flexibility.
