The Canarian village of Tejeda is preparing to celebrate the 53rd edition of the Almond Blossom Festival from 6 to 8 February 2026.
In the heart of the island of Gran Canaria, this municipality—which is part of the Association of the Most Beautiful Villages in Spain and was the winner of Ferrero Rocher’s latest Christmas campaign, “Together we shine brighter”—will be decked out to celebrate the flowering of the almond trees, a natural spectacle that paints its fields and hillsides white and pink.
The Almond Blossom Festival is becoming more popular every year, attracting thousands of visitors to this beautiful enclave in the Canary Islands, which is also a Biosphere Reserve and part of the Risco Caído and Sacred Mountains landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is an iconic event in the island’s calendar, which since 2021 has been declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest.
Established in 1970, the Almond Blossom Festival in Tejeda was the first pagan festival to be held in Gran Canaria. It is the only one that takes place in winter and, with its commitment to sustainable and deseasonalised tourism, it has established itself as a popular event celebrating Canarian customs and traditions, strongly promoting the name of Tejeda both nationally and internationally.
During these days, the streets of the village are transformed into a beautiful open-air stage with folk performances, craft exhibitions, traditional workshops and displays of local sports. The Almond Blossom Festival, which the people of Tejeda celebrate with great enthusiasm, pays tribute to the tree that for generations was the livelihood of many families and today continues to be present in their sweets, liqueurs and way of life.
