This April, Malta will once again fill its skies with colour thanks to one of its most spectacular traditions: the Malta International Fireworks Festival, which celebrates its 25th anniversary from 18 to 30 April 2026.
For almost two weeks, around 40 local and international pyrotechnic teams will transform iconic venues such as the Grand Harbour in Valletta and Nadur in Gozo into a stunning visual and cultural spectacle.
The festival, deeply rooted in the tradition of the ‘Maltese festas’ – recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage – elevates fireworks to an unrivalled tourist experience. This year, it further strengthens its international dimension with the participation of teams from new markets, including, for the first time, a Canadian company, thereby consolidating its global appeal and significance.
The programme combines pyromusical competitions, traditional displays and live music featuring local bands, successfully bringing culture and community together. The grand finale will take place on 30 April at the Grand Harbour in Valletta. This will bring the curtain down on an edition that not only celebrates local talent and craftsmanship, but also promotes Malta’s strategy as a year-round cultural destination.
