- On 18 April, the ninth edition of the Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon will be held, now established as the island’s most popular sporting event.
- With two months to go before the race, more than 5,000 runners have already secured their place, a figure higher than that recorded at the same time last year, moving unstoppably towards another sell-out.
On 18 April, Ibiza will host the ninth edition of the Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon with three distances (42K, 22K and 12K) and a programme of activities that make up the #RunAndFeel experience, a concept that combines sport, territory and lifestyle in a unique setting.
The good weather, the Ibizan landscape and the international appeal of the island have propelled this race to become one of the most sought-after events for running enthusiasts. In the next edition, more than 70% of the athletes will come from other countries, reinforcing the marked international character of the event. According to sources from the organisation, the most numerous nationalities include the United Kingdom (18.6%), the Netherlands (10.6%), Italy (10.1%), France (7.2%), Belgium (6.3%) and Germany (4.8%). In addition, the ninth edition will feature participants from Sweden, Venezuela, Argentina, Denmark, Poland, Ireland, Austria, Colombia and the United States, among other destinations.
Much more than a race
The Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon has established itself as an experience that goes beyond competition. In addition to its three distances, there is a full programme of events to accompany runners throughout the weekend, starting with the Runner’s Fair, where race numbers are handed out and various services and activities related to the world of running are concentrated.
During the race, different points along the route provide entertainment and support for participants, while the finish line, located on the Santa Eulària des Riu seafront promenade, becomes a meeting point for runners and their companions. All this is complemented by activities related to wellbeing, recovery and active living, reinforcing the experiential nature of the event.
With three months to go before the event, the Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon has already exceeded 5,000 registered runners, a figure that demonstrates the growing interest in a race that has become a benchmark both inside and outside Spain. In the previous edition, the event brought together more than 6,000 participants and was attended by prominent figures from the world of sport and media, including Dani Mateo, Yesica Mas, Valentí San Juan, Álex Roca and Mario Martínez, among others.
Commitment to inclusion and solidarity
The Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon maintains a firm commitment to social responsibility, reinforcing its collaboration with APNEEF (Association of People with Special Needs of Ibiza and Formentera) for another year by raising funds to support the programmes developed by the organisation to improve the quality of life of children and young people with special needs.
The organisation is also once again integrating young people from APNEEF into the Santa Eulària Ibiza Kids Run Caixabank, promoting their participation in an inclusive sporting environment and reaffirming the event’s commitment to promoting equal opportunities through sport.
