The KGM Torres EVX and Torres HEV are joining the range of vehicles approved for use as taxis in Madrid and Barcelona, with a proposal designed to respond to the real diversity of the sector. These approvals open the door for future expansion to the rest of Spain’s provinces, as any local council in the country can now benefit from these certifications without having to go through a new process in each municipality.
KGM entered this sector more than a decade ago with the versatile seven-seater Rodius and, since then, has made continuous efforts to certify its vehicles in accordance with current regulations so that they can be properly integrated into the taxi fleet in our country. The XLV, Tívoli Grand and Korando e-Motion models have also been part of this range.
Now, the Torres EVX and Torres HEV more than meet the high demands of professional passenger transport in terms of reliability, durability, efficiency, comfort, safety and range. But, in addition, each one does so using different technology, in order to adapt to the specific needs of each taxi driver.
While the Torres EVX is aimed at professionals who operate in urban environments or areas where the charging infrastructure is extensive and accessible, and who are firmly committed to 100% electric mobility, with the advantages that this brings in terms of reduced emissions, operating costs and access to certain restricted areas, the Torres HEV is presented as a balanced alternative for those who operate in areas where the charging network is still limited, make interurban or rural journeys, or simply prefer a gradual transition to electrification without sacrificing the autonomy and flexibility offered by the combination of a combustion engine and an electric motor.
The Torres EVX, with a 152 kW (207 hp) electric motor and 80.6 kWh Blade Battery LFP, offers more than 500 km of range in mixed cycle, up to 664 km in urban areas, and fast charging from 10 to 80% in 30 minutes. Available from £26,500* + VAT, it is backed by the longest warranty in KGM’s history: 7 years or 150,000 km for the vehicle and up to 10 years or 1,000,000 km for the battery.
For its part, the Torres HEV with the Dual-Tech Hybrid system and e-DHT transmission combines a 150 hp 1.5 turbo engine with an electric motor-generator that together develop 204 hp, allowing up to 94% electric use in the city. It is priced from €23,500* + VAT and offers a 5-year or 100,000 km warranty and 8 years or 160,000 km for the battery.
Both the Torres EVX and Torres HEV offer a spacious and modern interior with dual 12.3-inch screens, a segment-leading 839-litre boot and a high level of equipment from the entry-level trim upwards.
