The report, launched following World Tourism Day, transforms industry news and current developments into business intelligence through technology, artificial intelligence and specialised expertise.
Following the recent celebration of World Tourism Day, Tourism and Society Think Tank (TSTT) is launching Tourism & Society: Analysis Of The Travel And Leisure Landscape, a new tourism and business intelligence product designed to identify, analyse and interpret the developments shaping the evolution of tourism and leisure.
Published on a monthly basis, the report is intended to go beyond simply providing information and covering current events. Its aim is to turn the fragmented knowledge generated every day by industry news, events and trends into actionable intelligence that can help understand the market, identify changes and support decision-making.
To achieve this, the project combines technology, artificial intelligence and specialised tourism expertise. Technological tools make it possible to process and structure large volumes of information, identify relevant topics, establish connections between events, and detect emerging trends and signals. This process is complemented by the supervision and interpretation of specialists, who provide context, judgement and industry knowledge.
Combining these capabilities makes it possible to move beyond the question “What has happened?” to questions of greater value for business intelligence: What does it mean? What trend does it reflect? What changes might it anticipate? Which areas of the sector could it affect?
The report will take a cross-cutting approach to the main areas related to tourism and leisure, including destinations, companies, markets, innovation, technology, business models, the collaborative economy, consumer behaviour, and economic and social transformations.
In this way, each edition will not simply identify the most relevant developments, but will seek to generate knowledge about the context in which they occur and the dynamics of change they may be signalling.
The project is being developed within the framework of TS Orbix, the new initiative of Tourism & Society Think Tank focused on promoting solutions for tourism and leisure through the application of new technologies, tourism intelligence, innovation and the collaborative economy.
The initiative is being carried out in collaboration with Global Journey Consulting, which contributes both the technology required to process and analyse information, including artificial intelligence capabilities, and specialised tourism knowledge and expertise. This combination makes it possible to integrate technological capabilities with expert interpretation to create an intelligence product designed for the tourism sector.
“The true value of information lies not only in knowing what is happening, but in understanding what it means and what knowledge it can generate for the sector. Technology and artificial intelligence make it possible to process an extraordinary amount of information, while expert supervision is essential to contextualise and interpret it and turn it into useful intelligence,” said Tourism & Society Think Tank.
The launch of the report represents a commitment to a vision of tourism intelligence in which information becomes knowledge, and knowledge becomes business intelligence.
With Tourism & Society: Analysis Of The Travel And Leisure Landscape, TSTT is launching a new tool for professionals, companies, destinations, institutions and other stakeholders across the tourism ecosystem who need to understand not only the sector’s current developments, but also the transformations, opportunities and challenges that emerge from them.
